Hi everyone! just want to post my timeline & ask a few questions.

N-400 filed online: 8/20/2023

Biometrics reused notice: 8/20/2023

Interview was scheduled notice: 1/16/2024

Interview will be on 2/20/2024 in Irving.

I have a pending I-751 to remove condition as well (last I checked it was still at “application received”) but so far I haven’t received anything mentioning a decision for my I-751 or the upcoming interview will be a combo one. My question is: should I assume that it will be a combo interview and bring all documents I submitted for my I751 and those required for citizenship interview? Also, can my husband accompany me inside USCIS office building to the interview if uscis doesn’t say anything about a combo interview?

I also wanted to ask the chance of getting same day oath… I wonder if anyone gets same day oath recently.. Is there any possibility for me to get that? If not how long usually does it take from interview to oath ceremony?

I read that you have to tell them the day of your interview that you have a pending I751 so you get the dual interview. If it's based on marriage, your spouse must be there with you. Just explain that to them

Thank you. That’s what I plan to do. So far I haven’t received any email about it being a combo interview, but I will let the officer there know I have a pending i751. Hope they will let my husband come in with me, but he understands the situation and he’s fine being in the parking lot waiting.

The Dallas office emailed us 2 days prior to Wife's interview date to inform us it would be a combo interview.  Then, the guard at the door asked if we had gotten an email.  I had been preparing for a combo interview for weeks.

In Dec 2022, they were doing SOME same day interviews.  However, they did not offer that to my wife.  Our interview was on Dec 14th.  She took the oath in Plano on January 26th....along with about 1,000 other new citizens.....roughly 6 weeks after the interview.   Hopefully, someone with more recent experience will chime in.

Just wanted to provide everyone with my update:

Overall I had a very pleasant interview experience! It was indeed a combo interview. I came into the building 30 minutes sharp before my appointment. The security officer at the door didn’t even ask about my husband accompanying me, but I still told him I had a pending i751 application. My husband was allowed to come in and be with me throughout the interview. I checked in and then waited about 15-20 minutes to be call for my interview. First, the officer asked me a few simple questions about my i751 application to confirm our personal details, address etc. Then he moved onto the n400 interview. He started it off with the civic test, then the reading/writing test, then he asked me the Y/N questions in the n400 application. After that, he said I got approved! The whole interview took about 20-30 minutes. Then he said I would receive a letter with oath ceremony date soon in 2-3 weeks. Here I told him that I wouldn’t be able to travel out of town after mid march as I’m due to give birth very soon (I live really far away from Dallas area so I’d have to either fly in or drive for long hours). He then told us to wait as he tried to get my i751 application transferred to him so that he could approve it as well as my naturalization interview right then. We waited for a couple of hours, and boom! My i751 got transferred to my officer in time for him to add me to the oath taking ceremony in the afternoon! Of course I gladly took it!! So the whole process from submitting my n400 application to getting my oath ceremony done took about 6 months. My husband and I were both extremely happy. We were there in the building from the morning until 3pm - tired but it was so worth it. I’m so grateful that the officer was trying his best to assist my situation. Overall my whole experience at the Irving office was very good.

Thank you! I printed out the 100 civic questions list from uscis and studied them like a test. I wrote down answers to the questions like who is your senator/house rep/speaker of the house etc. on the same papers so that I could study them all together. I also downloaded the app called USCIS:CivicsTest and took the challenge/ practice tests on it - they were pretty helpful!

Hello all, I am one of those who fondly said farewell to USCIS many years ago, but parents now are in the middle of this journey so I am back on this forum.

Question to those who have already been interviewed at the Irving office. Are you allowed to bring an unopened bottle of water? My parents are worried about having to wait inside for hours and with no water (they are elderly).

Thanks for any info you can provide!
