Ombudsman is a waste of time as well. Have a case open with them for 60days now. It's messed up in Dallas.

I see. Earlier, Ombudsman would act and cases would be progressed. Don't know if Covid related delays are involved.

The next best thing is to contact your local Congressman.

I am March 2021 filer.

@KatieL You are way over the current processing time as per the link at the end of this sentence for Dallas which is 12 to 18 months  - https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Have you contacted USCIS? If yes, what did they say.

You need to engage the Ombudsman ASAP using this link - https://www.dhs.gov/case-assistance

Yes, I submitted a request to USICS. They said they'd get back to me by Aug 23, but I can already predict what they'll say - things are taking longer, blah blah blah

The congressman's office is all remote. I left a message but I doubt anybody will return my call. At this point, I'm not sure what to do.

Hmm, did you file Ombudsman case assistance here - https://www.dhs.gov/case-assistance

@KatieL @JustBelieve So as per Joe, Sep 2020 applications have been completed but Jan 2020 are pending as reported by you. Somewhere something is really messed up. May be yoru application was filed just as the pandemic was getting started and then USCIS closures and everything really messed up.

There really is a backlog or something happening. I filed an "outside normal processing times" service request and they promised to get back to me by August 23. Still waiting...

A friend applied Dec 2020 and he got his interview letter a couple of weeks ago. I am a Jan 2020 in Dallas too and at this point I am just hoping for the best. I understand the backlog is huge but cases should be taken in order they were opened unless it is an emergency case. Neither Ombudsman nor Congress are helping into this.

Is anybody able to get through to speak to a real person? I tried so many times. It is maddening. Nobody has any answers, nobody replies to calls or service requests. It's like the January filers are forgotten. What the actual hell!!!

Wow, Dec 2020 folks receiving interview calls. That's really fast. Mine was pre-pandemic and it took over 12 months (This was in 2019).

Well, USCIS is required by law to adjudicate cases properly and in a timely manner (within the timelines documented on their website). If you have the time and resources to go the legal process route, you can sue USCIS at this point of time.

My I-751 was pre-pandemic (filed in Jan 2019) and it is still not processed either. I wish I had the time and resources to sue them. I cannot even get a hold of any live person to talk to about this!

You are better off talking to a brick wall than talking to a uscis customer service.

I am planning to make an in person appointment to talk with a uscis officer, I hear some applications have been lost in the system.

Congratulations to you both 👏

Looks like Dallas is catching up on the backlog, that's wonderful!!

Yes, book an appointment online with USPS - https://tools.usps.com/rcas.htm

Don't need documents to book an appointment, its free to book and you can change/cancel it at any time. Dallas area post offices have about a month long wait list for passport appointments, so I suggest you book

yours right now.

Another place you can apply at is the County Clerk. Usually a walk-in, no appointment needed, but you might have to wait a bit for your turn depending on how long the line is.

Check your nearest facilities (both County Clerks & USPS) here - https://iafdb.travel.state.gov/

Good luck.

This post is really helpful, thank you so much! Amazing post!
