Hang in there buddy, I think we will get the Oath update soon. If it weren't for the winter storm, we would have gotten the oath notices by now.

People who interviewed on Feb 1st, 2nd and 4th got their Oath dates this week - March 22nd and 26th. We are a week after them, so lets hope for the best....

Does anyone know how long is the Oath Ceremony conducted at the Irving office? -

I accompanied my daughter for her Oath Ceremony ( N-600 Certificate of Citizenship ) on Feb 24th at the Irving Office and the entire process took about 20 - 25 minutes (including the Certificate distribution). All those who attended at 2:30 PM that day were parents with children (over 14 years of age). An officer checked the Oath Letter, asked for the Green Card (I replied that it was provided to the Passport Office when we applied for her US Passport), he then gave us a packet that contained an American Flag, a small booklet - copy of the constitution, Passport forms etc). There were about 25 participants. It was held in the ground floor just behind the security check point area. The officer congratulated all and gave the following instructions/advice :

1. Verify the Certificate before you leave the premises or it will cost you a lot to correct it

2. Sign the Certificate  ONLY with a black ink pen

3. Do NOT laminate the certificate.

There were no speeches or video etc. He called out the names and the candidates went and received their certificates. I was able to take both photo and video during the scaled down ceremony. There was another ceremony at 3:30 PM the same day as well as I saw several others come to the door and go back to their cars as the Security Personnel told them to come back at 3:30. Hope this is helpful.

Anyone else going through the ordeal of mailing naturalization certificate and application to Social Security Administration so they can update their status? I really don't trust mailing services at this point. I work in the legal field and important documents have been lost even when packages were insured. ☹️

so i have been out of country for 3 years and 1 day in last 5 years (multiple trips and noone of them were more then 3 months each), since i am based on job green card so i needed to complete 30months in 5 years before i filed for N-400 which i did and my interview on Feb 11 was completed and passed and now i am waiting for my oath.

btw when i filed my N-400, at that time i was out of country for only 2 years and 3months, after filling N-400 i travel for another 3 trips total 7 months.

i need to travel out of country for 3 weeks because of emergency in family and i am not sure if i should take a chance or not.

i am not sure if USCIS still keep counting after i filed for N-400.

01/09/2015 is the date when i got my Green card....so i am not sure if they will count 3years out of 6 years from the date of my getting green card or just use last 5 years

any comments ?

just wanted to add to my last post,. as per USCIS. "United States for at least 30 months (at least 913 days) before filing the application"

since I filed the application on February 24, 2020 I am not sure if they are still counting 30 months or not.....

I am thinking after filling for N-400 all i need to be sure is to keep "Continuous Residence Requirement" intact.

https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-d-chapter-4

A. Physical Presence Requirement

An applicant for naturalization is generally required to have been physically present in the United States for at least half the time for which his or her continuous residence is required. Applicants for naturalization under INA 316(a) are required to demonstrate physical presence in the United States for at least 30 months (at least 913 days) before filing the application. [1]

Physical presence refers to the number of days the applicant must physically be present in the United States during the statutory period up to the date of filing for naturalization. The continuous residence [2] and physical presence requirements are interrelated but each must be satisfied for naturalization.

USCIS will count the day that an applicant departs from the United States and the day he or she returns as days of physical presence within the United States for naturalization purposes

IMO, if it is an emergency, you can travel as you have a valid reason. You've already satisfied the requirement for N-400, completed the interview and are in line for oath. As for whether USCIS keeps counting, I do not know - best to call & ask them.

Also, please check the form N-445 (Oath Notice).

https://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/DownloadDocument?objectID=64110201

In it they ask "Since the interview, have you travelled outside the United States?".

Not sure if answering YES to will effect the naturalization process.
