Last minute question for anyone that might have experience with this topic. My husband's interview is on Monday. We both completely forgot about a traffic ticket he got in 2017. It was for crossing a double white line. He took defensive driving and the ticket was dismissed. He did put it on his application, but does he need to take something with him from municipal court saying that it was dismissed? That's the only ticket he's had. If so, then we need to get a copy of it tomorrow.

TIA

I would bring proof that’s it’s cleared just in case they ask . It’s better to play it safe . Happy holidays

Yes, he should absolutely take proof that the ticket was paid or dismissed. About 7-8 years back a colleague had a ticket for wrong parking and he paid it. He applied for citizenship and had his interview in 2019, and the officer asked him about the ticket (he mentioned it in the N400). He answered that he had paid it but lost the receipt. The officer told him to go get proof and his oath was delayed till he submitted the proof. Luckily he was still living near the same city where he got the ticket and so it wasn't too difficult to get a copy of the payment record, and he got his citizenship a couple months later. Imagine if he had moved across the country  😲

The lesson here is "BE PREPARED". Make sure you take supporting evidence for every statement and claim you made on the N400 and then some. In most cases the interviewing officer doesn't ask for any documentation other than the basic Greencard, Driver's License, Passport and Interview Letter. But on the off-chance they ask for something and you don't have it is a big risk and can delay your case.

Get the document checklist - https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/guides/M-477.pdf and make sure you have covered every item applicable to you.

Good luck.

I am in the EXACT same situation. Got scheduled for Interview in Feb 2021, got letter.  But today Estimated Time moved from April 2021 to Sept 2021. I wonder why? I am really concerned

Looks everyone who had their status updated this past week are seeing the same thing.

Quote

Estimated Case Completion Time: September 2021 (9 months)

Estimated Wait Time: 6 months

Probably a glitch in the system, don't worry about it. Good luck with your interview.

My husband passed his interview this morning. I didn't get to ask him a lot of questions, but he did say that he wasn't asked for any additional evidence. We had prepared a folder with everything they had asked for in the interview letter plus we had also included bank statements, credit card statements, utility bills, etc. from the time he filled in November 2019 to present. It wasn't needed, but you can never be too prepared.

A journey that began in November 2015 ended today. There were plenty of times in the last 5 years that I didn't think it would ever be over. All of the worrying, preparing, praying and anticipation is through. I wish for everyone still waiting that your wait is quick and painless. Thank you to this community -- I've learned countless important aspects of this process and received lots of good information from those who had gone before. If this website hadn't been available, I don't know that we would have been as successful.

Good luck everyone ! I hope you get to experience this feeling soon !

My wife attended her interview on 18-Nov in Dallas and  was approved the same day.

However, no new on oath ceremony. Today is is 45th day since her interview is completed.

She requests name change. Is anyone in similar situation?

What is her interview date & oath date?

Did she ask for name change. Because name change oaths are done via court whereas regular oaths are done by USCIS.

Couple of posts in other threads mentioned it. People who had their oath scheduled in the last week of Dec had their ceremonies cancelled due to the spike in Covid cases. Your wife's Oath is on 12-Jan, if that is cancelled then I guess they have cancelled the entire month. Nothing to do but wait. Hope they resume in Feb.

Congratulations! Only one step left, almost there.

And happy to know that the interviews are not disrupted by the Covid spike, was a bit worried that they might cancel the interviews too like they did the oaths. One more month for my interview 🤞

Did the IO give a time frame for the Oath? Since yours is a name change it might take a month or two. I read on another forum that the courts still haven't released the schedule yet. Please do post an update when you know your Oath date & place. If you are under the Northern District, you can check the schedule here (if & when they update it) - http://www.txnd.uscourts.gov/naturalization-ceremony-schedule
