What field office? Is it Dallas? When was your interview?

Pls answer my question. But to answer your question, you MUST mail the notice back to them, address it to the field office director and state the reason why you cant attend. It's not a big deal, just tell them you have a planned trip already. Keep it simple. They will give u another date. Yes you must mail it back to them or you can drive to the office and submit it in their drop box by the security check point

Yes, Dallas filer. But we’re already out of the country and only saw the document on the USCIS portal. So we don’t have the physical copy in the mail since we’re not home.

I wrote a full detailed account of our AOS process, timeline, AP use, and interview on my blog. You can read it here.

As soon as you return, send them the letter that you were out of the country, show proof with a copy of your ticket. And ask for a reschedule. It's ok to miss it once.  But they may have a time frame in mind to complete your case. That's why I asked you when was your interview. When was your interview?

The interview was on November 13th at which point we informed the IO of our upcoming trip and provided documentation. We asked to do the oath ceremony that same day or possibly that week, but for whatever reason our file wasn’t there—despite filing from Dallas.

I don’t think just ghosting the interview is acceptable. We’re going to try to print the notice from the USCIS portal and see if we can mail it from abroad.

You can print it from the portal. It is the exact same document. If u have FedEx in where you are, pls use fedex mail to mail it to them and keep your tracking information. That will absolutely work. You have 120 days after your interview to be have oath done. Sadly these IO, u tell them one thing and they will say Ok but they do the opposite. Smh. I have been waiting for a reschedule having moved from elpaso to Dallas. If I did not report my change of address after my interview but before my oath was scheduled,   I should  have been sworn in elpaso on 21. But I did the right thing to inform my change of address and now they are taking forever to reschedule me in Dallss. As of Nov 19, I'm in line for oath ceremony. Still in line till now. But it's good to know there is oath for Dec 16.

Dallas office does same day oath everyday, I wonder why they couldnt jus swear you in when you told them you were travelling.

Yes! Definitely print and send it through Fedex and I would also suggest calling just be doubly sure! Good luck!
