Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how long it takes from interview to oath ceremony? Reason I ask is because my interview is on November 1st but I am traveling out of country from Dec 6th. Hoping my oath ceremony is prior to my travel date. Thanks in advance and good luck to all those who are in line.

Just got my Oath ceremony date, October 31st at 7:30AM. The letter is still using my birth name which is concerning but I think he said when I attend the actual ceremony the name will be changed... super annoying since I’ve gone under my mother’s maiden name all my life since the age of a few months old and the entire process was done under my name but now when I’m on the last step he decides he wants me to get a different document to indicate my name change that happened 25+ years ago

I had my Naturalization interview scheduled today (Oct 8th, 2019) at 9:00 am.  I reached to the interview location 8:20 am and was waiting in second floor lobby by 8:40 am. My interviewer called me at 9:16 am. I am the first candidate he was interviewing for today. I was asked to swear in and straight went to civic test after collecting my Green Card, passports and driver license.

1. What are one of the rights or freedoms from the Bill or rights/constitution?

2. There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them?

3. What happened at the Constitutional Convention?

4. What is the capital of the United States?

5. Where is the statues of liberty located?

6. Who is the vice president of the United States?

Reading: How many US Senators are there?

Writing: There are one hundred senators.

After the questions were answered, interviewer started reviewing my applications. There are two changes in my application. My wife and I were separated in the course of process, so he updated that information. Second was regarding the citations. I had 7 citations (speeding), for which i answered "No"  upon the advice from my attorney at that time. But, during the interview, i disclosed the citations. He updated that information in his file.  He said that the traffic violations are not considered major and said i passed my test and he is recommending for the approval of the application. He said i will get a notification in mail regarding the date and location of my Oath ceremony and handed me my passports, GC, drivers license and for N-652 (Naturalization Interview Results). He walked me out of his room into lobby. I came out of the building by 9:40pm.

The whole interview took place for around 20 mins.

Yup then Plano convention center, it’s just really bugging me the oath ceremony letter has been addressed to my birth name, I’ve not used that name in 25+ years and it’s never been brought up until I attended my interview and he told me he wanted me to have a more official document so he approved me under my birth name and made me sign a name change that he said would be all approved by my oath ceremony, I’m hoping the naturalization certificate shows my ‘changed’ name (The name on my passport and green card)

Wouldn't worry, I was asked if I wanted to change my name also and I don't even have another name. I joked and said I can think of a few cools names. Interviewer said well if I wanted to now is the time. They will probably adjust it for you.

He assured me there’d be no issues but in just naturally anxious so of course it’s bugging me especially with the Oath ceremony letter showing my birth name. Basically my parents had a messy divorce and my mom changed my name to her maiden name so I’ve always used my birth certificate along with a document her lawyer signed showing my name was changed, and I’ve never in the 25 years since it was changed had anyone question it, even from applying for K1 visa through ROC and now Citizenship, I’ve never had any issues but right at the last hurdle he said he wanted a judge to approve it so I had a more official document, so he said he’d approve me under my birth name and he has me sign a name change at the same time and said it would be done by the time of my oath ceremony.

Just wanted to let everyone know i was approved today! Everything went smoothly, the only issue is my mom changed my name via deed poll when I was 2 years old to her maiden name (messy divorce with my dad) and apparently the letter didn’t look official enough so he let me sign a name change letter and he said the judge will approve it by the time of my oath ceremony so not to worry.

Congratulations Natonstan ... glad to read about your approval.

Hello Guys

It didn't go as smooth as everyone else's. I went to the interview, and got approved. I had a change of address, and maybe that triggered my case. I have no clue. I got to the office around 8:50am on 10/8/19. My appointment was at 9:30am. My husband couldn't come due to work, he wasn't supposed to nor did the letter asked for him to come. So I went by myself and took the paperwork. 1st agent called my name, swore me in, and when she went the computer to look for my case she said she couldn't find it so she took me back to the waiting area. She said her or someone else might call me again.

2nd try lol an agent called me, and there was another agent in the office when I got there. They swore me in, and they had my whole file, which was very very thick, full of proof and they started asking me so many questions about my husband and I. It's a real marriage so I have nothing to hide. They asked about my apartment; what side of the bed he sleeps? where he went to school? when did he graduate? when did I graduate? where I went to school? Where he works? where I work? what does he do? what do I do? and just so so many questions. One agent would ask and the other would just be in the computer. They also asked me why I left the country twice this year without my husband. They would keep asking me the same questions over and over again. I just answered trustfully and honestly.  I have nothing whatsoever to hide. But they could be intimidating. My sister is a paralegal and very strict about everything, she had prepared me and I'm glad she did because I would have been so nervous if that was not the case.

asked me 6 civic questions got them all correct, and they told me I was approved.

The interview lasted from 30 to 45 min. Can't recall anymore.

Can't wait to swear Allegiance to the US and be done! :)

1 hour after my interview was over I check my status and it show they had mail me my oath ceremony letter....

Can't wait for the letter to show up on my account.

God is Good Y'all!!! ❤️

Wow that sounds incredibly stressful, there's usually only one agent in conducting the interview, at least there was with me, and I didn't get asked any of those really personal questions, I wonder what triggered that
