So now that we have the NOA2 notice and then waiting for the rest. Interview, etc. I just want to know from anyone out here why age would make a difference to the embassy in Casa. Love knows no age and if two people are in love and it just so happens the woman is much older, so what? I am 55 and my fiance is 34. We are very much in love, he is so kind and caring and NO he is NOT using me to get to the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We know all we need to about each other, we have seen the questionaire they might use in order to know if he does know about me. SO what is the you know what problem??????????????????:angry::angry:

So why can't a person who has fallen in love with someone be such a big deal at Casa? I bet if the truth is known there are some people who work there who might have a SO younger than they are.

Any input on this? It is not wrong to be older than your man. I am young at heart, his family accepts it and so did

USCIS..................why would they approve it if age made a difference? I want to know as I am planning my wedding and hopefully it will be in the next couple of months.

Fine if you are in love.

One reason USCIS looks at large age gaps is relatives of beneficiaries pay older guys to bring their relative to the US sometimes.

As far as I know there isn't a problem unless your from one of those special countries.. .. I'm 50 now and Veronica is 31... We didn't have one problem with USCIS, US Consulate or anyone..

So I wouldn't get to concerned about this...just make sure you have plenty of evidence of meeting and follow the guides here..

Fine if you are in love.

One reason USCIS looks at large age gaps is relatives of beneficiaries pay older guys to bring their relative to the US sometimes.

In this case, it's usually an older woman petitioning for a younger man.

Age gaps are a red flag to the Consulate in Casa. There are many threads and debates about it in the MENA forum that you should read.

Thanks for this message. I am not really concerned too much. I told him last night if they ask about our age difference, just tell them why you chose me to marry. That our love has stood this test of time of being apart and that we are in love with each other even more. We have strong strong love and being apart as we have, shows it . He is the most wonderful man I have ever met and not like some over here. Where they need a cute little girl and blonde and you know what I mean. He loves me for me and we have such a good time when we talk on phone. I can't wait until this is finally over.

What he answers to that questions is not important, but HOW he answers is ? The questions asked by the CO are not to find out if this is love but to deny visas where the sole or primary purpose of the relationship is immigration. It is the whole picture that is important, evidence addressed red flags and how teh questions ar handled by the one being interviewed...will make or break the change of getting a visa.

VERY VERY TRUE!!!! My husband was only asked about 7 questions and I feel that there were only 7 because he was very confident and articulate during his interview..... i feel that when they person being interviewed hestitates on an answer - or if the CO gets this feeling of hesitation during the interview THAT'S when they start firing off the questions .. (i have read many posts lately saying that the CO asked many many many questions about things that are really in my opinion outside of what should really be asked ...... such the recent post that the guy was asked what the petitioner's ex husband did for a living COME ON...................that question is just rediculous!!!) I feel that the CO was trying to rattle the interviewee and I feel that this is part of their job (to seek out fraud or what they perceive to possibly be fraud) and if there is a doubt then additional processing is needed --- so if that happens give them what they want even if you think it is a crazy request or that your man brought everything with him to the interview ...... just give it to them again!!!

The bottom line is that your future is in the hands of these people and whether or not we like or agree with that --- they do have power over us..... but it is US in the end who will prove with no doubt things are real!

Anyone who enters the immigration process has to be strong!!! This is a long drawn out process that is straining on our lives and relationships - but in the end -- how sweet it will be!!!!

 (yes i think i just gave myself a little pep talk!)

.....still waitin on the security name check ......

Good Luck to all in the process and with upcoming interviews!!

Casa has issues with age differences. Several have been returned due to age. However, from what was said, I have to agree with what others have said. It all comes down to how the questions are answered. My SO and I have 7 yrs between us. Not much. But there was no hesitation on his part and his questions were over rather quickly. The posts that I read that were rejected, there had been things said that honestly, would have caused me to question the relationship. Be prepared and be confident in your love and you will be fine. Good luck!

I have to disagree. In teh one year of following petitions through Casa, I have not seen one returned because of an age difference. Yes sometimes an age difference is there, but those petition returned when there i an age difference also had other issues. There have been on VJ more petitions approved with an age difference than denied.

The most common characteristic that returned petitions have appears to be in the length of the engagement/time before getting married after meeting. This, curcumstanially, seems to be the most serious red flag.

Thanks for your input. We have known each other since Nov 2006, went there Jan got engaged and then talked about filing to bring him here. I was going to get married there but too much paperwork that I did not have. Even went to Casa for affadavit of nationality and marriage and received that paper to have. But after finding out what was involved and did not have all, we thought best to try K1.

So now that we have we are waiting for interview time. So I guess he should not tell how much he loves me but just to answer any questions that might reflect our age with something other than that.

What he will say will make it or break it. Any more ideas please respond. Thanks

Hi--Most of you know that Hamid and I have a large age difference. We, too, met in Nov, 2006. I am still remembering the question in Casa about where the SO went to elementary school. I mean, come on, how obvious can you get? They are knowingly asking ridiculous questions to get reasons for rejection--how many American couples could pass this "test"?

As I was reading this thread, it occurred to me that Hamid might hesitate as he answers because of English vocabulary questions. He has been speaking English a year, but still has to have some things rephrased occasionally. And he learns fast!!!

We got the NOA2 last week saying our case was being sent to Casaand that he would be hearing from them soon---setting off some real anxiety. I mean, how do you explain why you love somebody? Anyway, I heard that interviewers receive bonus points for rejecting applicants? Anybody know about that?

Keep the info coming, sisters and brothers!! Debbie (and Hamid)

At best all we are doing is speculating on what is in the minds of the COs. We know they can only reject a visa if they suspect it is solely or primarly for immigration purposes. I suspect that there is a standard guideline that Casa uses to make this determination. Sometimes they are wrong and good couples get denied.

I also think most of us come to VJ too late to make a change in o ur visa process to redirect any attention to red flags. All we can do is try to use as much as the evidence we have gather here on VJ and try to sort through to what extent does this information help our particulr case.

I wonder if the question about the elementary school was not about if he knew the answer, but how he responded to that answer and how that question fit into the whole methodology of the questionings in this case. I think the SOs going through the interview should have a copy of everything that was sent to the Consulate so they they have the correct information to everything the consulate knows, but then not owrry about knowing what teh consulate doesn;t know and just trying to answer and respond ina normal natural way so not to trigger any misunderstanding.

Speaking of misunderstanding....besides the timing of the engagement and marriage, i think the ptehr BIG red flag for Casa is communication. Our SOs donot have to have the interview in English, but if English is the primary way to communicte with you, then his/her English should be good enough to have the interview in English. My husband (then fiance) was very worried about his english going into the interview. He told them he would have the interview in English (though she started talking to him in French) but told her up front, that if he had some problem, he would ask for clarification in French. he did just that. She asked him a question, she repeated the question in French, then he answered in English. The next question out of her moouth was "how do you communicate?" He was ready for that one too.

I have heard of petitions being returned because of age difference or so they told that to the beneficiary. In reality they just had suspicous about the relationship and used this until they could think of something else. Too often they have used half truths when responding to why a petition was returned.

Good luck to you and your SO on his interview.

Hey you,

I'm just wondering how you know that it is a "half truth"?
