Getting Canadian Police Record While Living in USA?

I'm in the NVC part and I'm now required to obtain my police record from Canada. I'm residing in California, USA and I'm trying to understand the right steps to obtaining the police record without flying back to Canada

Do I go to my local police station in the US and request a finger print scan and electronically submit it to the RCMP? If that's the case, what do I tell the police officers?

Also how long will it take to get the police record?

You are going to have to find an agency in the US that can do your fingerprints and send the request to the RCMP.

This is one option: https://reliabilityscreening.ca/usa/

Just make sure you get the correct PRC.  Check the Canadian forum for examples of the correct PRC (it does NOT have fingerprints on it).  Many people have ended up with a RFE for submitting an incorrect RCMP PRC.
