Large scale marriage fraud scheme convictions in Los Angeles

It seems they arranged 300 immigration fraud sham marriages for Filipinos.  Used the same props and backgrounds in allot of the wedding photos.

Wow. Seems like these were all  adjustment of status cases. I wonder if clients (both the foreign nationals and US citizens) will be prosecuted.

Hope so. It's crazy to me people were paying $20k-$30k for this! That alone sounds shady.

I think @JeanneAdil was referring to the clients being prosecuted part

Yes,  they only mentioned the many persons who were in charge of this scheme

What about the immigrants ? 

I realize what they all did was illegal but they were used

i would like to see a follow up article when they all  try to AOS after the fake US marriage

To be fair, the intending immigrants knew what they were getting into. I wouldn’t say they were used.

 

I have a strong feeling that the law enforcement and /or USCIS will focus on the immigrants in regards to punishment (at the very least most likely will revoke their GC and initiate deportation). But I have my doubts they will go after US citizen “spouses”, even though they absolutely should. They were enabling this scam as much as the other parties.

It seems to me the "spouses" were the main beneficiaries of the scheme.

Apologies for misunderstanding you earlier @JeanneAdil… I don’t know if the adjusting immigrants were complete victims. Earlier article linked says the company helped the beneficiaries file VAWA cases when the USC was no longer cooperating… I’m thinking they were well aware of their actions and the consequences. They’ll probably be put in removal and deported but 400 clients? I can see how many might have disappeared. Especially as they were using the addresses of the agents as their home address. How will USCIS find them? Do they wait until they apply for citizenship?

With over 11 million illegals,  i doubt they will have trouble disappearing into a system to aid and provide support

Probably will not AOS,  ROC or try for citizenship /  Illegals have proven none of those are needed to stay here 

some states even allow medicaid and work
