Both, they need to see that prior marriages have been properly dissolved.

Dear all,

Re the attached screenshots, do they mean the marriage certificate of my current marriage to my husband (the petitioner of the CR1) and not my previous marriages ?

Thank you all. IMG_5923.thumb.jpeg.ac5ca19044f397b16759f5e6aa4ab68f.jpegIMG_5937.thumb.jpeg.a56dff3d903a1f2a4fca4e405ac0e65b.jpeg

For a spouse visa, they need to see the current marriage certificate.  Not sure the source of your quote above, but if the marriage certificate is in the local language where the interview takes place, it does not need to be translated.

Previous marriage certificates are only needed if they are the only way to track name changes.

Thank you so much ! @pushbrk
My current marriage certificate is in English and I will be having an interview in London.

To your second comment, I only have the divorce degree absolutes. This will suffice, won’t it ?

Thank you.

It depends on whether both your married and maiden name appear on them.  If they worked for USCIS, then they are probably ok.

Dear everyone,

I am lost as why NVC requires original of previous marriages, those marriages have been dissolved.

@pushbrk I grabbed the screen shot from Step 7 - Civil Documents.  I am lost as why NVC requires original of previous marriages, those marriages have been dissolved.

That's only an actual requirement if you need it to track name changes.  Example Mary Jones, marries Mr. Smith, then divorces him.  Later she marries Mr. Bailey.  Her divorce mentions Mary and James Smith divorcing but does not mention the name Mary Jones at all.  How does the Consulate know the Mary Jones on the Birth Certificate, Mary Smith on the divorce decree, and Mary Bailey are the same person?  Answer:  By providing that first marriage certificate.  If you were in this situation, you would have needed that marriage certificate for USCIS already, for the same reason.  If you didn't, it's not needed now either.
