Hi,

Like other people I have not received any updates on the CEAC and the case status says its still at  NVC. The priority date is 29-December-2017 for visa class F24.

"Due to the numerical limitations on immigrant visa issuance prescribed by law, this petition is not eligible for further processing at this time. The National Visa Center (NVC) will retain the petition until an immigrant visa becomes available. The NVC will notify the petitioner, principal applicant, or attorney of record when this petition is eligible for further processing. The principal applicant should not make any firm plans such as disposing of property, giving up jobs, or making travel arrangements at this time."

When should I expect a change in status on the CEAC so i can pay for fees/submit documents (3-10 years from now? )? Do I receive the welcome letter first before the status on CEAC changes?

If I had to receive the welcome letter first before status change on CEAC, I didnt receive it and I changed address. Any way coming back from this?

F24, so your petitioner is LPR (ie, green card holder) or formerly LPR?  Your case PD is not yet current on Table B of the visa bulletin, so it's normal that your case is not eligible yet for further processing.  What is your country of birth?

Anyway, here are the F2B dates from the December VB -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2024/visa-bulletin-for-december-2023.html

hi thanks for the reply. I am from Japan. I recently moved to the UK but might have to go back to Japan. I did update them this week on the change of address. Hope it doesnt affect the whole process.

my petitioner is formerly Green card holder at the time, but now he is US citizen.

Did the petitioner notify NVC of becoming a US citizen? It's important

I think he did but I am checking up with him.

After my public inquiry, I received this:

"You need your preference category and foreign state of chargeability to check the Visa Bulletin.  We sent them (either by physical mail or email) as part of your initial Welcome Letter.  Please check your Spam or Junk email folders before contacting us."

Is the above email mentioned is the first email I received regarding the creation of the visa application? (Notice of Immigrant Visa Case Creation was the email title that was sent to me) is the preference category meant by F24, and foreign state of chargeability just my country?

Yes, exactly that. You’ve got several years to go until a visa will become available to you, but will be able to get the NVC stage underway earlier as per Table B.
