My child will leave the US with less than 6 months in his passport

My son will enter the US with his US passport. He is a dual national for both Korea and the US. When he enters the US, he will have less than 6 months in his US passport. I know for a fact that he can't be refused entry in the US because he is a US citizen. But my concern is him leaving the US. Can he leave the US with less than 6 months in his passport? Also, he is going back to Korea and he will use his Korean passport to reenter Korea.

Not an issue .. There are no passport controls in place leaving the US.

He should be OK leaving, as long as he uses Korean passport on the way home to Korea.

Just to say a number of countries waive the 6 month requirement and the USA does not require its citizens to have 6 months left. Not exactly correct. Airlines will not allow you to board if your passport expires within 6 months for some countries and 3 months for others and you may have to have. a return flight scheduled before your passport expires in other countries.
