Oh man oh man - the only way this could have felt better would have been if I had been with my honey when seeing that (LOL - instead of screaming down the phone at him while he was asleep :blush: ) now - just the actual interview to go, and then the BEST day of my life when we actually get married... OH WOW I cannot CANNOT wait...

Don't sugar coat it Tracy, how are you really feeling? :D:lol: I'm so happy for you, this is just awesome news! You're gonna post wedding pics, right? Or at least pm links to your nearest and dearest VJ friends...who will then tell me how great the happy couple looks. :D

Gratzies!! That is great news!! I really wish there was a September spreadsheet now so I could see how you all compare!!! Heheh :D

Subtle hint much? I still haven't decided if I want to take that on. We'll see... :)

there are definitely people on here who are still waiting for their NOA2 longer than you have.

No sense in getting worked up about it.

how do you think the people who are stuck at 1, 5, or 10 feel?

Yeah I was kinda joking about that. If you look back I was talking about NOA3. :)

Gratzies... er, congrats to Amy, si man. Tracy should be sensitive to the idea that her S.O. may be unprepared for a surprise visit, such as specifically with housecleaning! I, personally, as a red-blooded gringo male, am semi-unashamed to admit that I live like a puerco (Spanish for "pig"). I will need an intrepid, thoroughly forewarned Mexicana to make a dent on the status of the environs, si man.

Still funny today: In the earlier '90s, I lacked interest in the idea of cleaning my then-apartment, so I called a small cleaning-company. Two girls and a guy showed up. One girl immediately attacked the kitchen. The other girl went into the bathroom, then immediately came out, jabbering excitedly in Spanish. The guy went in with her. About 45 minutes later, they came out, sweating. The guy glared at me and said, in English, "You should never let it get that bad again!" Ha haaaaaaaaaa! Si, man.

In other news, the fiancee wanted me to call her nightlastly, which was done, and we had a VERY productive conversation. Her entire concern is to ensure that we know each other well enough so that divorce would never be conceivable. She looks forward to a March visit by moi, and she plans to attend and pass the visa interview, whenever that will be, so that she can analyze what life with moi in the U.S. would be like. The only sticky issue is that she wants "more time" to establish her business in Ecuador -- she's lowered that frame to a year -- to [1.] see if she can get someone else to run it for her there and [b.] simply keep it going as promisingly as it is. Thoughts/opinions/advice on how to get her here sooner?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Roll with it at this point. The door is ajar, don't cause any strong breezes to slam it shut. Enter softly, and (here's where the analogy ends) just listen to her. You can put off the interview as far in advance as 4 months (unless your consulate is different, check with them), she has 6 months to use an issued visa, so that's already 10 months of time you can buy. There is absolutely *no* hurry. All of your thoughts right now should be focused on your visit and the relationship.

(I really should charge...)

That's really great news! Okay *thinks* she's got six months anyway, perhaps you could convince her that she could set up a business partner quite soon and then keep in touch from a distance - it's really not hard to manage a business with all the modern technology at your disposal these days. If you get married within a few weeks of her arrival and file for AOS straight away she could receive AP relatively quickly and be able to make trips back as and when necessary to oversee the business.

EDIT: Just saw Mox's response and agree that you should definitely not push the issue... but definitely don't be afraid to make gentle suggestions - just back off immediately if she doesn't like the idea.

TBone, I agree. Just let things work out from here. Don't worry about the extra time at this point. You've got your foot in the door again. Don't worry right now about her desire to delay coming here. Who knows, once she has the visa, she may want to get here immediately.

There are many people who have anxiety attacks (or whatever you want to call them) about leaving their country. Just work with what you've got. If she gets worried again, just reassure her (women need reassurance, even if it's something you've told them a million times before). I'm glad you had a productive conversation and that things are looking up.

New question: How LONG does AP typically take to receive? And, I thought I'd read somewhere on VJ that filing for AOS & AP together is more expensive or presents more difficulties than doing it separately; can someone clarify what the truth is, or direct me to the appropriate posts? Well I wouldn't think about getting her there sooner, more try and prolong the visa process wherever you can so she has the maximum amount of time she needs to sort out what she needs to... Don't forget to remind her that she has 90 days when she enters the US before she has to marry you/file for AOS :)

As far as I am aware, AP takes between 1-3 months :) If you file AOS/AP/EAD you just pay the $1050 or whatever it is but if you only send back the AOS forms then you have to pay separately for the AP and EAD :P

Lessee... 1 to 3 months USCIS time = 5 to 128 years (with 90-year additional period for USCIS to respond to inquiries), divided by usurous fee = a very reasonable annual rate! Si, man!

Oh, by the way: DHL called this morning to say that the package WAS delivered, apparently to the correct address, day unknown. The agent will even write the DHL billing department with the goal of procuring a credit for me. The proceeds of same, if any, shall go into the AOS/AP/EAD slush fund, si man.

To receive the full services of the U.S. government, you must be an illegal Mexican drug-dealer who causes U.S. Border Patrol agents to shoot you. You will be canonized, lionized, and otherwise treated like a prince(ss). Otherwise, meaning if you are not a criminal or you are applying legally, you are worthless trash to be ignored -- nay, spurned.

And who says that info is ever given to USCs, either?
