Well, I called the USCIS again! No such luck. She told me that they are now starting on the July 19th applications. What???????? And then she told me that because I had an RFE that I have to add 60 more days to that date. So, if I don't hear anything by February 28th I can call them. This is sooooooo awful!! I am trying to hang in there! It's not easy. Help??!!!!????

holy bloody hell, maria'n'john; I had to read that twice to make sure you WERE actually telling us you'd been approved; you're so calm!! number one vacates the spot! I might have to do a new list based on that alone (and now I can remove everyone before the Official Processing Date of July 19; completely truthfully, knowing you guys were still waiting was the only thing holding me back :D )

congratulations, guys, from the heart :) :) :)

mox - it's gonna take more than that :P

babblesgirl - well, all I can say is I'm sorry

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Hello All:

I've been busy and haven't been in for awhile but I just wanted my friends here to know that today in the mail we received our approval notice, dated 1/24/08. That was also the day that we got a touch. All prior touches were generated from my phone calls to CSC. Our file, however, is still pending on website.

Thanks to everyone for your advice and encouragement.

It's been a long time, but finally we're moving forward.

God bless America and you, John! We've never stopped thinking about you. Your next step is to update your timeline (if not already done) and to gleefully observe the gnash-teethings of StP and the others who have so recently created up-to-date lists!

Thanks Tbone....Your advice and encouragement is and always has been greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Maria and John that just posted their NOA2!!!

Thanks Still.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings: I hate giving up our spot. It was fun being # 1.....hahahaha.... Seriously, we gladly pass the torch.

Thanks for all your hard work.

Did you talk to one of the front-line idiots or to an actual immigration officer? Don't ever even bother with the former; insist on being transferred immediately, with no excuses or stalling, to an actual ImmigOff.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I dialed the RFE number and pressed all the buttons.

I talked to a nice dude.

He asked about the nature of the call.

I told him i wanted to know if there was a Request for Evidence on my case.

He put me on hold, and went to check with someone about it or something.

He came back and told me that my case was still pending and that it was in the final stages of the approval process, but that a decision had not been made yet.

He was very polite.

I will call again in 2 days.

this is pretty standard, no?

This worked for me: Do call again in 2 days, making sure to reach an Immigration Officer. Ask him exactly where in the "Division" your file is. When he tells you, politely ask him to send an e-mail to the floor to ask the appropriate person to carry it to the next station.

This last is "talking their language," and the action is something that they can do for you. The request to send an e-mail is also a crucial part of keeping your file moving. Try it!
