Of course if they are having any issues like we are here in work at the moment then I can understand... some IT technician has pulled out a plug by mistake so we have no system and can't do any work for the next 20-25 minutes - by then it will be home time practically!!!

I could shoot him if you want. Oh wait...no I can't. Because they won't let me carry a gun!

Hopefully someone with a linkless profile will drop by and reveal their secret. :)

In that case, Mox, will you have found the Missing Linkless? Hawwwwwwww! (For confirmation or refutation, ask your gorilla.)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Haha - yeah I wonder how long it takes to get a Cuba passport and if you could shorten the process by filing via Cuba.

I recently saw something on the TV news about the exceptions made for Cubans. It's called something like the "wet/dry" principle. If Cubans take a boat or raft to Florida and end up on the beach, they can be sent back, but if they show up at a Port of Entry on dry land, they will promptly be given their authorization to enter the U.S. The TV segment was pointing out how tough the Border Patrol folks are on Mexicans and OTMs (other-than-Mexicans) in contrast with Cubans. This is all part of some federal law from the 1960s (?) that authorizes ready asylum for Cubans. It would clearly explain why Cuban K-1 papers go to the top of the stack.

Sadly the gorilla sleeps with the fishes these days. Kittens don't make threats they can't keep.

Sounds fishy to me; in fact, it's a whale of a tale. And if a cat has kittens in the oven, that doesn't make them biscuits. Si, man. :)

Do we know whether people have actually had results when contacting senators or representatives? I'm considering writing to Dianne Feinstein and the local rep where Jesse lives. Will see how the call goes tomorrow though first.

It's really hard to say. People who have posted that they contacted their reps before the 90 day period have been told what they already know, that they must wait 90 days. People who have posted that they contacted their reps after 90 days have had differing experiences. For the ones who were approved, it's impossible to say if it was due to pressure from their rep or just that their file finally found its way to someone's desk. I can't recall seeing a single post where congressional involvement was directly responsible for an approval, but maybe someone else has.

I still think it helps because USCIS are required to respond to congressional inquiries within a very specific time period. Which I forget...72 hours? Someone help me out. Anyway, it forces USCIS to at least do something, even if it's just punching in a receipt number in a computer and pushing some paper. It also helps to build a case against the status quo at USCIS. Some day perhaps there will be a "tipping point" and they'll finally be answerable to an administration who cares. (there I go getting all politicky again... :) )

Agreed, this tipping point needs to be reached somehow. We'll give it a go. Thanks :)

Good to see CSC were back to normal yesterday - nil NOA2s. Better the devil you know, eh? I was starting to get a nose bleed after they approved 3 on Tuesday!!! After that the CSC truck obviously went into a speed wobble and they lost it!!!
