Now, can someone please:

[A] Tell me which forums here to begin scoping next; and

[ii] Tell me exactly what happens next, approximately when, and what I/the fiancee need to do?

Start with the guides, and also check out "The Foreign Embassy and Consulate General Discussion" forum. If you're not already hitting your own regional forum, you should do that too. Your fiancee should start working on her police report, and you should start putting your financials and bona fides together. The guides should help.

Like Bartles & Jaymes, we thank you for your support.

You are seriously dating yourself TB. You and I are probably the only people here who got that. :)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Your fiancee should start working on her police report, and you should start putting your financials and bona fides together. The guides should help.

I included my financials (I-134 ?) with the original I-129F package.

She got her police report just before the I-129F package was submitted, although I did not include it in that package.

Before I begin reading the guides: Do either of these items "expire" after X months? (If the time limit is, say, 6 months, it would seem to be USCIS's fault for the untoward delay.) At least regarding the financials, I imagine that I could prepare a notarized affidavit saying that "all information is substantially unchanged from what was originally attached."

And, Mox, why would I date myself? That seems quite narcissistic.

(Favorite single-panel comic strip: Boats of lovers are floating into the Tunnel of Love, and the ticket-taker asks the single occupant of one boat, "One ticket again as usual, Narcissus?")

Take a look at the bottom of the K-1 Guide. The section labeled "What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):" describes what you need to start gathering. I'm not sure why you included your financials with your initial I-129F, it's not required for the initial filing. But look at the guide, it tells you about everything you'll need to put together, including the all-important affidavit of support.

The police report is good for 2 years, but the older it is the more likely the consulate might give her a hard time about it anyway. Remember that these consulates like to think of themselves as their very own little kingdoms, and they make and break the rules on their own whims.

Aha -- that's where I'd seen the post-NOA2 stuff. An attorney had suggested that I include the financials with the initial package.

What ORIGINALS of what items are crucial to have (or to send to the Consulate or to the fiancee)?

Sorry to keep axxing questions like this, but folks whose approvals are pending may find such basic directions helpful soon. I will also scope other forums in order to minimize my ask-questioning.

Obviously it didn't hurt, but you'll need to send them to your fiancee too, as outlined in the guide. Don't make the assumption that the consulate will have them as part of your filing. It's entirely possible that they tossed them.

What ORIGINALS of what items are crucial to have (or to send to the Consulate or to the fiancee)?

Any evidence you provided in your initial filing. Receipts, boarding passes, birth certificate, everything. If you used your passport in lieu of a birth certificate, don't send your passport, but do send copies of *EVERY* page in your passport, even if they're blank. Also send evidence of correspondence *since* filing, as evidence of an ongoing relationship. Emails, letters, IM chat logs, phone bills, Western Union receipts, etc.

Also pay attention to what documents need notarized. Read the guide for more info on this.

Thanks, man. When I visited her in June, I brought her a complete, true copy of the entire I-129F package. I have most of the originals of the ancillary support items. Ideally, I'd like to complete as much of the "Packet 3" (or whatever the next papers are) as I can myself, and then send all to her. Feasible?

Someone in the Russian forum (I forget who) gave this advice, and I think it's absolutely perfect: Packet 3 is sent to her for a reason. It's her job, let her do it. We (men, mainly) are so used to being in charge during this process that we think we need to handle every single tiny detail. But we don't. Let her handle Packet 3. She will feel like she's an important part of the process (because she is), and she knows better than you how to get things done over there. The instructions are clear, and in her native language, so there shouldn't be any problems she can't handle. Send her everything you need to send, assist her where you can, and let her handle the rest.

Sage advice, maestro. She didn't want to marry a "macho" anyway -- ha!

Because I am doubtlessly causing the continuing residents of this forum to feel left out, and with empty feelings in their guts (I retain acute vestiges of this), I will seek another primary forum. But I won't forget youse guys!
