Interview wait times

Hi,

 

We were DQ'd back in July 2023 and we are still waiting for an interview date to be set in Panama. Based on this forum, looks like other couples are getting their interview dates about a month after being DQ'd. Is there anything that we can do?

 

I've contacted NVC and they said they are still waiting for the Embassy to provide interview dates. Its pretty difficult to get a person to talk to at the Embassy and I've tried to email them, but no response so far. The CEAC states that our case is still at the NVC (which shouldn't it be with the Embassy?). 

 

Any guidance is much appreciate - the waiting game is brutal.

What NVC told you is correct.  Once your case has been DQ'd, it goes to the back of the line of the queue for your consulate at NVC.  This is the process:

1. Case is DQ'd by NVC.

2. Case then enters NVC queue for your consulate and waits at NVC.

3. Consulate informs NVC of available interview date for upcoming month.

4. NVC schedules interviews for cases at the front of the line.

5. NVC schedules your  interview when your case reaches the front of the queue for that consulate.

6. NVC notifies person of interview date via email.

7. NVC then sends case to consulate.

After the interview is scheduled, it can take several days to several weeks for the consulate to receive the case.

One more note:  Before Covid, the standard wait was up to 3 months. The system just hasn't fully recovered yet.

Thank you for your info. I did not know the standard wait time was 3 months, pre-COVID. Hopefully, there isn't a huge backlog for the Panamanian Consulate. Do people typically try to contact the consulate? Or just best to wait it out?

You are free to do so, but I don't think you would benefit.  Usually, people wait for NVC to schedule.  Unfortunately waiting is the hard part of immigration.
