My wife has been here for just over a week...She passed her CR-1 interview with no problems and 1 year and 1 month later after the start of this process she is here. Now since shes been here we have gone to the SS office and applied for her card and she is studing for her drivers exam. My question is what comes next in this process? Cab someone give me a detailed description of what we have to do....

Called NVC, missing or incomplete information on packet sent to them

so they are sending out a letter. 2-09-07 Waiting for letter....

Got letter said they hadnt received our DS-230. Called the NVC said they had received it disregard letter....2-15-07

NVC has completed the case, 03-09-07 off to GUZ!!!

CR-1 mailed to GUZ 03-14-07

June 8th found out interview is July 9th!!!!!!! Waiting for P-4

P-4 arrived on June 16th at my wifes apartment.

Med check done on June 20th have to go back for results and Vacinations.....

Interview July 9th, PASSED!!!!!

wife flies to San Fransisco July 26th, 20 minutes to clear cutoms..

July 30 applies for SS card

Mailed I-129F 7-24-2006

Delivered Chicago 7-26-2006

I-797C receipt 8-03-200

Check cashed I-129F $170.00 8-04-2006

P-2 1-12-07

Apply to lift conditions within 90 days of the conditional-Green-Card's expiration by filing I-751 along with evidence of a bona fide marriage relationship.

I hope I am assuming right that her EAD card will be mailed automatically?

I have another question we live just 6 miles from the Canadian border and Vancouver has a large Chinese community that I would like to take my wife to see, she has her CR-1 visa do we still need to wait for her EAD card to leave and re-enter the U.S.?

CR-1 and IR-1 visa holders are immigrants, and get a Green-Card soon after arrival on that visa, the green-card IS EAD.

The I-551 stamp makes the passport serve as a temp green-card, allowing work and re-entry after travel out of the USA.

You will not get EAD card because the Green-Card IS Employment Authorization.

I am a little slow sometimes so to make sure I have this right.

Her greencard which will becoming automatically very soon is EAD authorized for her to work, correct?

Her CR-1 visa alows her now to travel outside of the U.S.?

The CR-1 visa is a single use visa, it expires on entry to the USA, the officer stamps the passport with an I-551 stamp making the passport act as a temp Green-card, allowing re-entry on trips out of the USA, and also gives work authorization.

Soon after entry, you should receive the actual I-551 green-card in the mail, again authorizing work, and allowing re-entry to the USA. Also Canada, Mexico, and neighboring islands recognize the I-551 and allow travel into their countries with-out a visitor's visa.

If your spouse came here on a K-3, your spouse would have needed a visitor's visa to visit Canada, but since your spouse has the I-551, the visitor's visa for Canada is not needed.

Unless you can find a Chinese speaking driving instructor, what's coming next is a lot of screaming, fighting, and fear. :yes:

Yes, I think driving may be one of the biggest hurdles we will have to overcome. My wife has never been behind a wheel before so today I am taking her for her first time...Wish me luck.....lol
