Why is that k-1 isn’t fast ?

It used to have an advantage over CR-1 due to being faster.  Now, they take around the same amount of time, and the CR-1 has many other advantages.  This is why most VJ members who have been around for awhile will recommend the CR-1, even including those of us who did a K-1.

nope, overall. Maybe 8 to 14 months is more accurate, but you can see here, that NOA1 to NOA2 is in free-fall https://www.visajourney.com/times/k1-fiance-visa-historical/ Adding up all the days, its around 480 days. Its very likely to keep coming down too.

Someone on these forums linked to this video earlier. Someone analyzed the data and he seemed to think that NOA1 to NOA2 will come down to around ~250 days (removed)

8 months from petition filing to visa in passport?  I find that hard to believe.  Anecdotal evidence is not that compelling.

Anyway, you said "6 months," and for new people who are not familiar with the entire K-1 process, it is good to be clear that that is NOT from petition filing to visa in hand.

We're one of those couples who did a K-1 and would definitely recommend the CR-1.  The months my husband was not allowed to work were difficult and AOS was a nuisance we could have avoided.

Let's say K-1 is faster by 3 to 6 months.

Then think about the headache and more cost after the fiancé arrives in US.

AOS

ROC

If people can get married, why some of them still do K1?

If they are both single and all their previous divorces are correctly process, then they should be able to apply for a fiancee visa for whom ever is the foreign resident which i guess is your father.  As stated before here by someone else this is the place to get many answers so the process goes well.

My parents were in a relationship back when my mom was in high school. After they had me, they separated for a long time, and now I'm 29. Eventually, in 2018, they reconnected and started talking again. Since then, they've met three times—in 2019 and twice in 2022. Recently, my dad proposed to my mom, and now she wants to apply for a fiancé visa. my dad has a child with a different woman, who is 22. Is it okay for my mom to apply for a fiancé visa?

I hope the 22 year isn't interested in immigrating with her father because regardless of the visa chosen, the 22 yr old aint coming for quite a while.

After covid, a huge backlog of k-1 applications developed, but thats changing now since they are catching up on the backlog. If you were to apply today, it should take 6 to 12 months.

Official processing time for I-129F, the fiance visa petition, is 14.5 months according to USCIS.

K1 is not faster.
