Hi, I have a question. Last week I submitted my and my joint sponsor's AOS documents.

I just got to know that after NVC documents clearance the embassy interview will be scheduled in 3 to 6 months.

That is too soon for us. Coz we still have many things to rearrange here before we move to USA. So we have to delay the embassy interview process for about 6 months.

Because of that I didn't submit the DS-260 form. It is the right thing to do right ?

pls advice.

I want to make sure I understand, NVC DQ'd you, and your case has been sent to the Consulate?  I think you can fill out the DS260 and set up an interview appointment out several months.  I am not sure I would delay the DS260 as the Consulate may think the case has stopped and send it back, although I could be wrong.

Good Luck!

Not yet. I just Paid and submitted AOS docs only. I paid the fees for DS-260. But not yet submitted it DS-260. coz I want to delay the process.

NVC processing time purely depends on the respective embassy right ? if its within 3-6 months its too soon for us.  I though it will take 12-24 months :(

Don't submit the DS-260 until you are closer to desired interview date.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

*Op, not submitting DS260 will delay the process. So you are on the right track.

*Another strategy will be to go through everything including interview. Then once you have the visa travel to the US, activate your LPR status, and then return to home country to deal with what you need to deal with before making your permanent move.

Delaying the DS260 will accomplish your delay goal, but you did it backwards.  Would have made more sense to delay submitting the affidavit of support.  Will probably work anyway, but you'll need updated evidence of current income and the 2023 tax return from your joint sponsor.
