I have my eye on my favorite (and very large) thrift store, which usually runs 50%-off sales on Black Friday.

 

Will also hit at least one estate sale or garage sale this weekend, to keep alive my years-long streak of attending at least one such event every week since probably 2012.

Our Black Friday big take was mayo at the Winn Dixie to be used on the left over turkey and some shampoo the wife wanted.😒

 

Oh yes, had to stop at Walgreens to get cheater glasses for the wife because she is knitting and crocheting small items for the coming twins and left her others in Naples.  Fortunately all stops were right on our own island and didn't even have to get out on the main road.

Went, at around 3 p.m.  Place was completely mobbed by mostly Mexican chicas with carts piled high.  Stood in checkout line for half an hour to buy 4 items.  One lost its price tag and couldn't be sold, so 3 items.  Two of those were short pants for Mini-B. in the length that he desires.

 

Before that, went to children's resale place with 16 of Mini-B.'s out-of-favor pants.  They bought 12 of them, which is really good.  I bought a pants for $5.50 and still left with an $11 profit.  :dance: 

 

That, plus visits to Aldi and Kroger, constitutes my Black Friday report.  The 4 garage sales and 2 estate sales itineraried for tomorrow will constitute my contribution to, uh, Small-Business Saturday.

The only really good deal was a cat subscription box that was doubling the toys and treats. The other was a gecko tank that was 50% off. We didn't need it just yet, but will soon enough and we have not seen deals like since we started keeping geckos. 

I was hoping Costco would have the really nice doggy beds on sale but nope they were overpriced as always. I'll go to HD tomorrow and get the 15$bed for the doggy. That or I may find him in my bed again. (He goes in my room and closes the door behind him :rofl:)

On Small-Business Saturday, I went to an estate sale and found a desk-lamp for $17.50, which was 50% off.  It has a very heavy round base with a push-button on-off and a 3-hole electrical outlet, an angled rod, and a compact shade that doesn't need removal when the full-sized light bulb needs replacing.  I would not have bought it at full price, and I imagine that I'll consider the half-price capital investment well worth it.

 

This was the only item yielded by the 4 garage sales and 2 estate sales.

Purchase eyed: a computer, but did not buy. Simply still too expensive this year even at the membership club.

Large ticket items were a fitness watch which was on sale. A lego set I had purchased back in August on sale is still being sold at regular price so I'm glad I got that early.

Sneakers were on sale so a few good deals there.

Amazon had good deals on blu ray and books this year and most purchases came from there.

A buy of sale items from Kohls on Friday got me enough cash to have nearly free bill on Sunday.

Ultimately spending more this year but getting less. Inflation clearly or retailers being greedy.

If some on-sale clothing bought on Thursday/Friday gets me a pile of free stuff on Sunday once I drop the Kohls cash and additional coupons I've been saving - the girl maths works for me every year. ;) Trick is making a list and sticking with it. Kohls is counting on someone to come in and spend extra well over the amount of free cash they have. Plus you can do store pickup and travel over the state line to avoid shipping and tax.

My beef with Kohl's is that their coupons seem to exclude everything ("no this, no that...").

In addition, nothing that I've ever bought there has fit me or Mini-B. well or comfortably.
