Visa expiration and the wait for a Green Card

I'm planning to move to the US 2 weeks before my immigrant visa and medical expire. (IR2, son of a US citizen.)

 

If I get in the US while my visa is still valid but my visa expires before my Green Card arrives (already in the US), would this be a problem?

 

I have already paid the Immigration Fee for my Green Card even before departure.

When you arrive in the U.S., your passport will be stamped by the authority with an ADMITTED stamp.  This stamp will include the date of admission and the category...in your case, IR2.

 

Your stamped passport serves as proof of valid residency for 12 months from the date of that stamp.

 

You should expect your green card to be mailed within 90 days of your entry into the U.S. since you've already paid the fee.

Your immigrant visa will be endorsed with a stamp giving you a year of valid re entry while your green card arrives.

You will get a green card (just not the plastic one) the moment you are admitted into the US.  Once your visa gets a CBP entry stamp, it will turn into a temporary GC valid for 1 year from the date on the CBP stamp.  The expiry date printed on the visa will become irrelevant.  The visa+CBP stamp is equivalent to the plastic GC for all legal purposes, including work and travel.
