hello

i m new to this forum n appreciate any help i get here

my brother got his cr- visa few days back and he was apprehensive to know

after going to us does he have to apply for ssn and ssc again at local office coz i think he filled ds-230 part 2 and wrote yes there

however he needs to work there urgently due to financial crisis n needs to know whethr he will get the ssn and ssc at home address /? or he needs to apply there again ?

I heard from others that for C1 visa they will send the SSN automatically to home address in USA, after arrival, so no need to apply again. But I am not positive about this info, cuz we did K1 visa. If you don't get answers here, try to post again in South Asia forum, you will get an answer. :thumbs:

i think elw is right though i m not sure either coz mine is not yet done

but i feel yes coz your brother must have ticket yes in ds-230 form part 2 in question 33 a

i would also request the other senior members to advice on this ,

He will receive his SS card within 2-4 weeks after arrival. If not, just follow up at the SS office.
