I'm on the countdown again....49 days til I get to see Hamid again. Staying 3 weeks again this time. I am sooo lucky to be on year-round school where I can see him more often.

Is anyone else going to Morocco around Sept. 21??? Lucky me, during Ramadan....

On another note, our papers are off to Casa with worried hearts. Hopefully, we will hear soon when his interview date is. Didn't sound good for Iyisha, God love her heart. (Hope I spelled her name correctly.)

Anyone else turned down at Casa today? Debbie (and Hamid)

Hi Debbie,

First let me say this.....if I were a consular, I'd approve you without an interview. Going during Ramadan, to me, shows true love, girl.

I'm counting down the days, too.....27 days from today (Saturday). Unfortunately, I'm only going to be able to stay for 1 week. I get 3 weeks vacation a year and I used 2 weeks and 1 day in Morocco last February. So, I'm putting my only 4 days left with Labor Day so I can stay a week. Next year I get a 4th week so I've been trying to decide....do I go 4 times next year so as not to wait so long in between trips or do I go twice for 2 weeks each time waiting for 6 months in between trips? Anyway you go about it, it's hard!!

Hope you have a great trip.

Connie

I wish I could go too, but I'm done my going to Morocco.... at least for this year... and frankly, he should be here. The only problem is - no visa. Wow, almost two months in Morocco, I wish I could do that! But I'd miss the toilet and real shower too much :jest: :jest:

Because they can and there's been something about Morocco being a country where there's too many marriages that aren't for just people to be together, plus the age difference. That's me still guessing - they never really gave the real reason.

I know what you mean.....the bathing is one of the reasons I'm leaning toward more trips for less days. Though we did stay in hotels most of the time when I was there this past February, we did stay at the family home some....the family being my fiance, his mother and elderly grandmother. They do have an american toilet in their house thank heavens. They also have a shower, but I didn't think his mother would appreciate me taking a shower in her house. So we didn't stay there for more than 2 nights at a time. I'm not fond of spit baths....or as we call them here....wh--e baths. And there's something I just can't figure out.....I've read a lot about their beliefs but can't find anything that says they are not allowed to use washcloths....what's with that? Not even the hotels had wash cloths. Was a good thing I took some wet wipes which I used when I was at his house. I also took my net scrubby thing that I used at the hotels. Didn't know it but I was going prepared for pretty much anything. Except an electrical adapter with a high wattage. Fried my hair blower and cord for my epilator. Won't happen this time.....got a high wattage adapter.

My SIL's have wash cloths so maybe it's just something that's always been missing in the hotels you've stayed at? I personally just use a scrubby thingy (i forget the name of it but you put the shower gel on it and it exfoliates while you wash) that I always bring with me. Maybe bring your own linens?

Have fun you two while you're there! It will certainly be festive with it being Ramdan and all. Be sure to take tons of pictures! I love seeing pictures of how the rest of the world celebrates Ramadan.

I have the same thing with washcloths. Bought some for his parents' house and where he lives. Luckily the riad has an American toilet and a handheld shower, and so does his parents' home. I have yet to figure out how to download a pic for this site--always says "too large" so if you can tell me how, let me know. Thanks, Debbie (and Hamid)

Lots of places do not use washcloths like we do. If its important to you- why not pack your own? In Morocco, you can buy the wash mitts that they use in the hammans to use at home. As far as blowdroyers...isnt it cheaper to buy a local blowdryer to leave there when you visit (or take back home to use for other vacations abroad) than to pay for an expensive convertor and adapter.

I do plan on taking some washcloths this time. As for the adapter....I found one online for about half the price of a decent hair blower, but I also bought another hair blower to take. I plan on leaving the adapter and hair blower at his house so I won't have to bother with packing them next time. I always travel with my scrubby thingy....that's all I use at home but they don't work too well with spit baths....that's why the washcloths.....have already put them on my list of things to pack. SOOOOO ready to leave......26 days now. Just wish I could snap my fingers and be there.....don't really look forward to going through all the airports. I'm not patient waiting in lines. I got e-tickets this time and I'm going to print my boarding passes at home before I leave. That should make it less of a hassle at the airports.....hope so anyway.

I hope what you bought is a convertor not just adapter or you will fry this new blow dryer too. I know sometimes people say adapter but they mean converter.

Hvae a fun and safe trip
