B2 visa for Minor

Hello,

 

Anyone from Jamaica deal with a visitor visa thru the Jamaica Embassy?

I submitted a DS-160 (B2 visa) for my 16 yo stepchild (her father is in America obviously). 
what evidence is needed to bring to interview? She doesn’t work, she’s in high school. Her family is in Jamaica. She WILL be going back, I know you have to show proof of that but how?

Our experience with non-immigrant visas is that they generally don’t look at evidence. I have heard that COs have often pretty much made up their minds before the interview. It can make it really difficult for people seeking to visit who have family in the US and could adjust, especially coming from countries where that statistically happens more frequently.

 

We sent in land documents, photos of the newly built home, letter explaining why the family member would return. It didn’t help. They didn’t want to see any of it.

What is his current status

 

Why is he not taking her to the interview. Or her Mother?

K-1 visa thru me. He has a greencard. I May most likely just file for her to come to America permanently. Seems really hard to get a visitor visa. She doesn’t want to move yet. She just wants to visit. She doesn’t want to leave her friends.

I’m hoping it’s different for a child. Still gonna give it a go. Truly sad that so many people ruin it for those that aren’t going to just “stay” and figure it out there.

Obviously needs her OK and I assume she is OK with this.

 

And that your Husband has been in the US for more than a year so yes for her to immigrate best that you file.

Oh yea she is ok with it. She barely even lived with her mom. She lives with her grandma. He’s been here for a long time.

Nothing you can really do as proof other than her telling the truth if just wanting to visit. Someone does need to go with her to the interview.
