Finally movement here for the 485, it skipped the attend interview step and it's now sitting on the case decision step, est. 1 week.

Beware this can all change any moment. These estimates are largely inaccurate. You may still be asked for an interview and I'd be ready until I get approval notice and GC in the mail.

My wifes AOS is still showing 4 months, with 2 months until step 3 completed.  There has been no movement since we returned her Medical RFE on February 11th, which was documented in the case updates.  No movement what so-ever. Our filing date was October 31st so she is in the October AOS group.  She has her EAD and AP and we had hoped the GC would be just around the corner, but nothing at all.  Called the field office and was told had to wait Until June 1st before we could request information and was told the average time for Processing was between 14 and 20 months........ugh.

Okay so she has the ability to make money and the ability to leave the country…. My case was different; had EAD but didn’t apply for AP so wasn’t able to travel outside the U.S. until green card received.

Correct, but she is now going to school full time to open up job possibilities.  The EAD card is valid for 5 years and was issued in January, which really makes us wonder, as the AP is only good for one year and expires next January 1year from the date of issue.  So if she has not received her GC by then I wonder how we re-apply for AP in order to travel back to visit family.

I've been trying hard lately not to come into this channel and check updates - but can't help myself at this point.

We have been waiting for quite a while now while all other applicants from Visa Journey in the Seattle field office (even people who applied in February) are all getting approved. I've tried calling / messaging Emma, and even tried getting help from a representative. We are completely stuck.

Would uploading unsolicited evidence help? We are adjusting from K1 visa, didn't submit anything besides the wedding certificate (as that is all that was needed). My worry is that we couldn't submit the I797 Approval letter copy because it never came to us, and USCIS isn't willing to give a new copy (we asked and it will take 8+ months).

Our timeline is as follows (total 131 days):

  • Nov 17th: Full submission
  • Dec 16th: RFE
  • Jan 2: Biometrics appointment
  • Jan 3: RFE response submitted
  • Jan 26: Work permit approved
  • Present Mar 28: No I485 approval

We ended up sending through unsolicited evidence for our relationship (wedding photos, joint bank account proof, insurances and leases with both names, etc.).

Hopefully this might help us.

The more proof the better because just a marriage certificate doesn’t prove a bonafide marriage.

Yeah that is what I think. We are applying for AOS (I-485) coming from the K1 visa, and for the K1 applicants it didn't say anywhere that additional evidence besides the marriage certificate was needed. But surely it would help, I assume.

Same visa process but we submitted as much evidence as possible to avoid RFE and interview…. We got an RFE for medical, but got thr green card approval without interview.
