"It actually went fast," she said. "I guess once I started progressing, it went within 30 minutes."

LOL! After 17 kids something is sure to fall out! Does anyone find this family extremely annoying? I can't stand watching them on T.V. and I'm sure now that they have their own show, they will keep spitting the kids out. They seem like a small cult.

Well, I found this today, so I don't think they will come anywhere near the record:

The world record for having the most number of children officially recorded is 69 by the first of two wives of Feodor Vassilyev (1707-1782), a peasant from Shuya, 150 miles east of Moscow. In 27 confinements, she gave birth to 16 pairs of twins, seven sets of triplets and four sets of quadruplets. The children were born between 1725-1765.

Did anyone notice the husband's name is Jim Bob?

I knew the "Jim Bob" thing was coming...... Let me just speak for those of us in Arkansas who don't have 17 kids and whose name is not Jim Bob or even know anyone named Jim Bob.... they are the exception to the rule.

09/03/08 - Visa Approved!!!!!!!

09/10/08 - Picked up visa

09/20/08 - Arrived in the US - WHOOOOHOOOOO!

12/06/08 - Wedding

Exactly. Oh, and they bought their kitchen equipment through restaurant equipment auctions at a fraction of the price of new, and I am sure they are making money from doing TV stuff. And there's a whole bunch more misconceptions/wrong assumptions in this thread that I won't bother to address. It's their lives, their family, let them be.

I saw them on TV too, and it was quite creepy actually. They are some evangelical religion but seemed (the parents anyways) downright arrogant. That house was HUGE, and I know without donations their "modest lifestyle" would not afford them to have all that stuff. They talked about their "modest dress, values, etc" but I tell you what, out of 17 kids now 1 or 2 is bound to be a black sheep or a rebel, hee hee! Once they go to college, get tired of "modest dress" they'll get a tattoo and end up on "Girls Gone Wild"

My mom is one of 21. Though that's three different mothers, two of whom brought a few children from previous marriages. When we have family reunions, we fill state parks

My dad is one of 16 kids. One mother, same father, no twins. Yes, Catholic. Not surprisingly, my Grandma died in her early 60's. My Dad's family did not recieve government handouts or donations from the neighborhood. My grandfather worked a few jobs, and when the older kids were old enough they got jobs to help out. They lived in a 3 bedroom home - one room for the parents, one for the babies, one for the girls and the boys lived in the attic. Not glamorous in the least. They've had their share of problems and successes. And like someone else mentioned, family reunions are HUGE. Between grandchildren, great grandchildren and now some great-great grandchildren there are 267.

I grew up with a few girls that were from families that actually remind me a lot of the Duggars. They went absolutely crazy when they hit their teenage years. I'd love to see an update on this family in about 5 years when a lot of these kids are teenagers. Might be a whole different story then.
