Hi All

New member here and hoping from some insight on the inner workings of our consulate in Montreal

Interview was Friday Sept 8 2023, did almost everything right but had to mail one missing original document (still kicking myself over this)

I was told that I didn't need to go back to Montreal since the interview went well

Promptly sent in the document on Monday Sept 11 and they signed for it Wednesday Sept 13

Status was updated on Sept 21 (guessing they opened my envelope and put it in the queue)

After weeks of "Refused" status on CEAC, I emailed just to be sure they have everything they need

Got a reply Nov 2 saying all is good, just waiting for a consul officer to approve my document

Sooo, it's now...

66 days since the interview

61 days since they received my document and passport

53 days since they updated my file

I am really hoping they issue it this week (I was told 6 to 8 weeks).

I travel (not to the US) for work and I have delayed my travel (to client site) to end of Nov because that's about as much as I could delay it. I figure almost 3 months should be safe.  I hope I am not wrong.  Not really sure what to do with the client if I have to delay my travel further.

Anyone else facing the same challenge?

I had a similar situation where I was approved at the interview but told I had to send in an updated police certificate. I sent that to them on Oct 23rd and my status turned to Refused and there's been nothing since then.

Have you had any updates @Ulcers McCool?

Hello.  I finally got my passport back. It was finally issued Dec 6 or 7...so about 3 months from the interview date.  I ended having to follow up with them again via email.  It took about ten days for them to reply, saying it was in queue.  A day or two later, it was issued so  I don't know if it was because I followed up or it just happened to be next in sequence.

This is the email address:  montreal-iv-dv@state.gov

Best of luck!

Hi,

My husband and I are in the same situation. He is a Canadian citizen (born and raised in Pakistan, living in Canada for over 10 years). I am a US citizen. His interview was on December 22nd,2023 and was given a 221G white slip in which they requested only his passport. He sent his passport on December 23rd. His interview went well overall but he was told he will have to go through admin checks, and that it will take two weeks. Date has been updated 3 times since then but no update since Jan 4th.  Our visa class changed from CR1 to IR1 since we passed our 2 year marriage mark in November.

He's been denied entry a couple of times at the U.S. border due to application being in process, likely why he's in admin processing.

Hopefully his visa is approved soon.

Hey

We are in the same situation as well. My husband sent in his documents and passport on Feb 5 and it was delivered on Feb 8. But I have gotten no updates. Not even a delivery confirmation by the consulate. What should I do?

I am wondering if you could provide an update on the status of your visa? Has it been issued? If so, when?

Thank you
