 To all of you who replied to my post abt lost Citizenship Certification, thank you for enlightening us about passport being a valid USC proof... so...

now we are planning to not wait for the Copy of his citizenship anymore and just use the passport as proof of his USC.. In the I-129F form, Part A. number 10 or 12? "My citizenship was acquired through...." -- he will check of course PARENTS -- but there is a follow up question with that in the form under Parents, "if Yes, give certificate number"

How can he give the number? he does not have it coz he lost it right? is it ok to leave that blank?

HELP please :crying:

22. What do I do if I have lost my Certificate of Naturalization? What do I use as proof of citizenship if I do not have my certificate?

You may get a new Certificate of Naturalization by submitting an "Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship Document" (Form N-565) to USCIS. You may call the Forms Line 1 800-870-3676 to request Form N-565.

Submit this form with the fee to your local USCIS office. It may take up to one year for you to receive a new certificate. If you have one, you may use your passport as evidence of citizenship while you wait for a replacement certificate.

To obtain a U.S. passport, please visit the Department of State's website.

Filing instructions clearly state that a US Passport can be used to prove citizenship.

I would answer "lost - applied for duplicate" when asked for the naturalization certificate number.

I had the same exact problem. My Naturalization Certificate certificate is missing, but I do have my US passport. On both I-129F and I-134, where it asks for the Naturalization Cert. # I put "Copy of US passport provided". I was approved and had no problems. I hope this helps.
