You're lucky they sent it back.

You always send copies, not original.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Basically they don’t need it at this moment.

The petition instructions are clear that all evidence submitted shall be legible photocpies.  If an original or certified copy is submitted the USCIS may not return this document.  You are fortunate they returned it.

What was the reason you sent the birth certificate?  Was it for proof of citizenship?  Did you submit anything else to prove citizenship such as a copy of your passport?

Yea I put that as a proof of citizenship, only other thing is my social and my passport photo but not a copy of my passport, basically the letter said they are returning it and I need to keep it unless they request other wise.

They also sent my birth certificate back as original.  What's funny is the birth certificate clearly states it is a copy from the states vital statistics department...  so they sent me back my copy

Yep, same.  I was in a panic when I got the mail.  Thought this is very early for USCIS to send something, is it an automatic denial? Nope, just one of like a dozen copies I have of my birth certificate, lol.  They're easy to order from my state so I figured it wasn't a big loss if they kept it.

Im the petitioner and they just sent back my original birth certificate, is this normal?

Hai, what happened after you recieved the birth certificate? My fiance also received this mail, only contain 3 pages (his birth certificate, front page of 1-129f form, page stating they returning the original copy). It does not stated anything about approved, denied or RFE. Is it normal or should I worry about it? Did your case got approved?

Yeah it's normal.  If the USCIS agent feels like it, they will ship back originals once they have the copy they need for the case.  Sometimes they will scrap it but in most states, people don't sweat this.  I sent an "original" because it had the official watermarks.  If they trashed it, no skin off my back.

We had more issues with mysterious delays at NVC level.  But we've seen the case move to the embassy this week, and have an interview scheduled.  Other than the slight panic attack from receiving the bc back after a few weeks, USCIS was a well oiled machine.
