I bet this has never happened before.  My wife got her resident visa after two years.   We went to the US and stayed only two weeks.  We had to return to her country because both her mother and father had to go to the hospital with severe health problems.  The green card hadn't arrived before we left.  The green card arrived after we had left and my daughter in the US mailed it to our address in Colombia

Well it didn't arrive for a month.  So I looked at the tracking number and it was delivered to Lagos, Nigeria by mistake.  The delivery address was correct . I don't know if it was stolen or just misdirected to  Nigeria.   I contacted the USPS to inquire and they said they would look into it.  So far nothing.

It costs around $500 to replace it and takes any where from 7 months to a year to get a replacement !!!!!!!!.  Incredible.

I am not sure if she can enter the US without the green card.  You are supposed to have in your posession at all times.  Anybody know if she can enter?

Any ideas?

On what date did she enter the US with the spousal visa?  If it has been less than a year, she can enter the US using her passport (with the endorsed visa). Otherwise, she might have to get a boarding foil at the embassy.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

So that was obviously not USCIS' fault, right?  Maybe USPS will offer some type of insurance reimbursement.  You should definitely report it as lost to USCIS.  I don't think there is any way around the I-90 processing fee or time, although you could request an expedite.

It'll be a vit easier to lias and see if the person who received it in Nigeria will offer to mail it back to YOUR US address for some cheap change.

Dealing with USCIS is a mountain to climb.

Not sure why you were mailing the GC to Colombia.

Wait...I remember you. Hehehe

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.
