Income requirement on the affidavit I-134

Hi all,

We have our K1 appointment w/ the U.S. consulate in a couple of weeks. Im wondering how I will provide enough evidence as a sponsor if I havent started a new job. I am currently unemployed with limited funds. When I originally filled out the affidavid of support my work situation was not an issue. Will a letter from the future employer be sufficient evidence?

Can you find a co-sponsor, the co-sponsor does not have to be the same person to act as a joint sponsor later when you adjust status, they can helps sponsor the visa.

Then later after you marry, and file to adjust status perhaps your income situation will be such that you can sponsor your then spouse without a joint sponsor.

Your co sponsor for the K-1 can be a friend realative, sibling, parent etc.

Are you saying you are between jobs - that you just have not started the new position yet?

Do you already have a job in line? If you start the job before your interview you could probably get a letter from your employer, but if not you should probably consider a co-sponsor.

Yes. It is in the same line of work. I'm a licensed funeral director. I am just waiting for a letter regarding salary and benefits from my future employer. I've been out of work for 2 months. I'm wondering if the letter will be enough even though I havent started working there yet. Hopefully I'll start working at the end of August.
