Hi All,

I've been looking & looking but can't find it. Can someone PLEASE tell me where it says on the USCIS site that the medical is good for a year. Dan is getting his I-693A filled out tomorrow & I have a feeling when we get there they are going to try to tell us that he needs another medical done, or at least part of it redone. So I want to have that printed out where it says that his medical he had done in Canada is good for a year with us.

Also does anyone know where you can download the I-693A Form from? I want to have a copy of that with us too just in case they try to say they don't have one.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I can try and help you here, the info about the medical being good for 1 year is right in the instructions for the I485, read them again and you'll find it. It's in there.

As for the 693A, if you are going to a designated civil surgoen that's from the USCIS site, then they will have the forms. I don't know if they are available online, that may help counterfeits.

I would really suggest calling the place before you walk in to get your I693A. I called the clinic, explained the situation, told them I needed an I693A. They confirmed they knew what it was, that I didn't need an appointment, and the cost.

If for some strange reason you can't find the medical info in the instructions, and they tell him he needs a full medical he can leave and go back at a later time armed with his info.

Stay positive, I'm sure it'll be fine.

I agree, usually the doctor's office has the I-693A, but if you really, really want to bring it "just in case" (and don't worry, I did the same thing :D ), then use the search function (put in "vaccination supplement"), the link for the form was posted around March 10 or so in one of the many threads concerning that topic.

And about the "one year" for the medical, it's here (assuming he came in on a K-1 visa):

If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who

had a medical examination within the past year as

required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you

only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not

the entire medical report. You may include the

vaccination supplement with your adjustment of

status application.

(page 4 of the I 485 instructions)

Good luck,

CW

Thanks Canucker,

I appreciate your help. I found where you were talking about. I printed it out & highlighted it. We will take it with us tomorrow. We have a 1:00 appointment with a Civil Surgeon. When I was calling around explaining the situation I was told different things by different offices:

a.) One place argued with me that Dan needed the whole medical done over again.

b.) Another place agreed that he didn't need the "whole medical" done over, but told me that the blood work & x-rays expired after 6 months & he needed to get those two things done over again.

c.) Another place told me that they "don't do it that way", you don't ge the I-693A without getting the whole medical done."

The place we are going to said that they would just fill out the I-693A, but I'm scared that once we get there, it will be a different story. So I want to go prepared.

I'm almost positive I saw in it on the USCIS site (or somewhere) too. If I did, I'd like to take a copy of that with us too. So if anyone else out there knows where it's at, PLEASE let me know.

Definitely call around, the prices can vary considerably. Good luck

Definitely check with surgeons to see if the prices are different. And come armed with any paperwork necessary to 'prove otherwise', just in case you get hassled. Not all cases are the same and don't trust the doctor to know everything. They're only human.
