For K1 Beneficiaries w/ TB history & lung scars

Hi everyone!

My fiancé just received our NOA2 about a couple weeks ago and I wanted to get started with compiling all the documents needed from my end.

Although, I have a major concern regarding the SLEC medical exam. Unfortunately, I have scars on my lungs due to PTB history years ago and the scars will be visible in my chest x-ray results forever, so i’m 99.9% sure I would have to undergo a sputum test. I’ve completed the TB 6-month treatment, but I no longer have copies of my old x-ray and doctor’s clearance as proof. The only proof that I have is the fit-to-work clearance from my doctor at the time, stating that I’ve started the treatment and that I’m no longer contagious.

Would it help if I see a pulmonologist and do a sputum test to get an updated medical clearance before my SLEC medical appointment so that I have a supporting document proving that my TB was cured and what I have are scars? I’m from the Philippines btw so any tips from fellow filipinos who were in the same situation would GREATLY help. Thank you 🙏

No.  SLEC is the sole decision maker in this process.  They will determine the course if action based on what they see.  You certainly can explain your prior medical history but going through a screening prior to the actual medical will likely be a waste of time and funds.

Yep.  Something like 100% you will get referred for sputum testing.  Saint Luke's could care less what any other outside doctor or authority said or did, so don't waste your time worrying about that.  If the treatment was successful you should pass sputum testing easily.
