DS-160 "ever been refused a US Visa" Question

Hi all! My Fiance and I are working on the DS160 for the K1 Visa. We are curious about the question "Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, or been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?"

Fiance had previously applied for a student visa and was denied at the interview under 214(b). We used Boundless for the K1 filing and they said to mark "no" on this question... I am having doubts about that. Does anyone have any advice?

The answer is "Yes".

thanks everyone, I was equally confused about why they said that... hoping they just didn't understand what I was asking!

Yes. You don’t have to worry about that visa being denied.

That’s just as bad. It’s a basic question.

Answer honestly always! Answering "yes" will not hurt your chances at this completely different visa. They are looking for your honesty, nothing more.

They already know the answer here. Make sure your fiance has all the facts as to why is was denied when they get to the K1 Visa interview, no doubt they will ask about it.

Good luck, and welcome to the K1 crew :)
