My wife got denied by Germany. Took the consulate one day to make a decison, and 10 days to deliver the passport back.

The reasons were: inusfficient proof of funds and doubts about the applicant leaving the EU.

Greece gave us a visa based on the same financials (more than enough $$$ in a US bank) but Germnay didn't. The woman at the German visa center said the hotel reservations should have been fully paid in advance (are they crazy?). Maybe Greece put us on a black list. Who knows?

If she's paying for the trip herself, then she doesn't need a sponsor. In our case, I'm going to pay for everything on the trip,because my spouse only has Russian bank accounts. A sponsor is just if the person isn't paying for everything themselves.

The German visa is extremely hard to get nowadays, especially without long Shengen visas in the past. It's always better to stick to the countries who issue visas regularly for russians like France, Italy and Spain, keeping in mind some special requirements and the season. For example, Greece is definitely not the best choice for winter.

Hungary is an option if you need a visa ASAP (for instance I got only 46 days between my IL and interview date), but the Consulate requires all tickets and hotels fully prepaid, preferably non-refundable.

We got our Hungarian visa without prepaying any hotels... Only paid for the plane ticket.

That's great! I'm coming from the usual requirement and experience of dosens citizens who applied for this visa to get to Poland. Better safe than sorry. My visa was issued by France without tickets even, with a detailed plan for that trip.

Yeah, it was a bit of a gamble with the plane tickets! But the prepaid plane tickets were 100% required for Hungary. However, the directions don't specify about hotel reservations, only that you need to submit them. So I think it might depend on the case/consulate if they want it to be prepaid. I decided that it would be fine without prepaying and it worked out for us luckily.

Is your interview coming up soon? We have ours in December.

Same, but had to reschedule it for summer due to unfinished business in Russia.

Hello,

My question is very similar to everyone else's but I just want to make sure that the information is still current. My fiancé is in Russia and I am in the USC. Our K-1 was also sent to Poland but we have not applied for a visa based on the anticipation of being denied and the cost of the flight. Our preference is Turkey or Kazakhstan to save for the flight and have more flexibility monetarily. However, I have not been able to find the contact information for Turkey to ask will they accept it. Does anyone know the correct route to ask either country if they will accept our visa, including contact information?

Will it be quicker to keep it in Poland and just try and get there instead?

Overall we want the quickest yet feasible way of getting approval. If anyone has any new information, tips, advice, or suggestions... please share.

 

Also, I read someone say in one of the replies "The latest chat on telegram" Is telegram a platform that anyone can use to get information?

Email the embassy with a request and reasoning for why you should get the request.

It may be quicker to interview in Poland as it is a big embassy with the capacity to process many applicants. I am not sure how big the Turkish and Kazakh embassies are. However, if you are at high risk of a 221g/administrative processing, it will not matter where in the world you are interviewed, you will be subject to a lengthy and likely 10-16 month long AP, according to forum vinskogo. 

I still personally found it convenient to interview elsewhere. I did not like the Schengen visa song and dance. We chose Jerusalem, Israel (or rather, they chose to accept us. I'm glad they did.)

What is a 221g? My fiancé  would rather go somewhere else to avoid the whole dance as well. When you asked Jerusalem did you have submit proof or give a lengthy reason?

When I asked Jerusalem with no reason/hardship provided, they denied my request for transfer.

When I told them I could not legally get to Poland months later and spoke about my issues with Schengen (no proof, just an explanation) my case transfer request was accepted. 

I provided no "proof", and I tried to keep the reason as concise as possible, but still touch upon all the important points. If your fiancé has residency anywhere you should try to transfer there. We would've transferred to the US Embassy in Armenia but they denied our transfer citing their embassy is small and already overloaded with Armenian and Iranian cases. Kazakhstan is another place you should consider, as I think they handle Russian family visa cases, but they're more likely to accept CR1 cases over K1. 

Good luck! The process sucks, but it'll all be worth it in the end, I'm sure.

I just wanted to add - just because Armenia (or anywhere else, for that matter) did not accept a transfer, doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't try anyways. Things are always changing.
