Hi, everyone. Sorry for posting a question that is probably already answered but when I did a key word search I got 28 pages of hits....the first 5 or so I read were all regarding the immigrant and not the US spouse. My husband arrived here in December on a K3 and we are filing for his AOS (reaaaaaaly wishing we had done that oh say, 3 weeks ago! $1010 geez!) in the mean time I have taken his last name. On all of our past documents, the ones that granted him the visa to come here as the petitioner I was listed with my maiden name. I will be filing AOS with my married-now legal name, is there a form I need to fill out so USCIS makes the connection or will they somehow put 2 and 2 together with our marriage certificate?

Thanks so much for your help!

I wondered the same thing (I am also the USC), but I filed everything in my now married name (whereas before I used my maiden name). I look at it as my opportunity to 'change my name' with USCIS.

My SSN is still the same as it was, and all the tax records I sent had my maiden name on it. I also included my maiden name on the cover letter for AOS, and I also referred to myself on the I 864 EZ in the last name field as 'Married name (maiden name xxx)' - just so there wasn't any confusion. I'm sure they're used to this so I don't see any reason why it will be a problem.

We didnt have any problems doing so, I am sure that they do look out for this sort of thing anyway. My marriage certificate had my maiden name listed which was all I needed to reassure me that they would put the 2 and 2 together.

Also just for clarity - AOS does not actually have a petitioner (like the way the application did for K1/K3, etc) this is a filing by the applicant for adjustment.
