Now with them gone we can start focusing on building and returning this country to its pre 60's former glory;

You're likely going to meet some opposition with that strategy. Remember that the richest of the rich, the top 0.01% of the population paid roughly 70% of their income in federal taxes back in 1960 whereas they pay merely 35% today. Oh the lost glory... ;)

Have you even BEEN to Canada before? If you were being sarcastic than that is fine, but where I come from in Canada, we often get 100s in july/August because of the humidity. It GETS hot! We do not live in a perpetual igloo-like state.

And there are a lot of great things about Canada. Genuinely nice people being one.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

In that case, I retract! ;)

Okay then I guess your comment is kind of useless.

Shame to not want to travel to a country bordering the country you are living in.

I think it is a choice made by evdogg412. The choice may change over time ... then again it may not. It is their right to choose when & where to travel. I think this person might have already experienced travel in other countries (a guess on my part given the Philippines connection).

And you criticize this why ?

I never criticized nor did I ever state that her choice is wrong. Please read the words carefully before you assume what I meant. I meant that it is a shame not to want to visit and explore ANY country, especially one that is so close to the US and happens to have a lot of beautiful places. That is my opinion. The poster can do what they want; I could care less. However, I think any one who said to someone "I don't want to visit your country" would say, "why not? it's great here...." I have a right to say that, thanks.

these words would have been much more of an invitation to visit Canada ... just my humble opinion

btw: yes I've been to canada many times in all seasons ... and have enjoyed every visit even if most of them were work related (oil/gas and water/waste water projects). I hope to take my wife to visit friends in NB next year so we can watch the river (Miramichi) and wildlife go by. Now if I could only afford the fishing license ... I have the guide. :P
