Hey Everyone,

I arrived in the US in 2004 to study on a F1 student visa for 1 year- no problems there. I then applied and received a work authorization card and I-20 to work in the field of study for a further year. Which runs out in September this year. I would like to get married to a US citizen (I am from the UK), but cannot find any info on the internet. Most topics just seem to cover K-1 and K-3 visas. But I am already in the country. Does anyone know what paperwork I need to fill out, and really where to start..... :help:

Any help is much appreciated

Doesn't matter if you're already in the country...if you want to marry a USC then you would either file a K-1 or get married and file a K-3. Either way, you would have to go back to the UK to finish the process. Of course, there might be others who are doing something different and I'm sure they'll pipe up and say so. Read the guides, they are invaluable :)

It sounds like you want to marry a green card. I doubt you'll find many people here who are too sympathetic to your goal.

If your just looking for a way to stay in the USA than I would have to agree with rclouse.

Went back and read the OP's post again...I kinda agree with this too. No mention of a fiancée or anything.

I think the OP means that he/she is wanting to marry "his/her" US citizen, but he didn't word it very well.

It would be very likely that you would study and work in a certain place, and find someone and fall in love, and want to get married, just like you would in your own country!!!

Do as Kezzie has suggested and read the guides.

Good luck.

I had to go back and read the OP's post again too. After reading rclouse's post I was like 'what??' and than i noticed the same.

I think you should be only looking into this process if you have already someone special in your life.

I beg pardon then...no offense was intended. Too much drama of late.

Wow, You guys are like 'oh my God! He wants a green card' It's hilarious. But thank you for all your comments. Here is the situation: I am a guy wanting to marry a Beautiful USC, A girl I met a few months after I arrived, So yes, it is for love, (actually her birthday is next month which is when i shall propose, in some big romantic way :) After leaving my studies I was employed by a Diving company, (I trained as a commercial diver) and shall be with them for many years I hope. I will automatically apply through them for my visa form (whichever number it is) for continuing employment. Apologies for not making it clear before, but I work 12 hours a day seven days a week and I'm very tired. I'll try the guides, as indicated, but any further help would be great

My fiance proposed to me on my birthday as well, it was pretty sweet.

I am thinking that since you´ve been there for a while and your working visa is valid till September, you can go ahead and marry and file for the AOS. Check the AOS forum for that. And good luck!
