I have a little question, I am looking at the I-134 form and I am going to tell my manager to get a letter ready, but the only thing I am worried about is the fact that I a contractor or temporary and it wants you to list specifically if you are permanent or temporary, do you think this will hurt me?

Ok let me give you a brief background on this....I worked for this company that I am currently working at for 5 years, but I left to go and be with my fiancée in the Bahamas for 2 months then I came back the USA to get sworn in to become a citizen in January and I stayed in the USA. So when I tried to come back into my job there was nothing available permanent so I went to a Temp agency that ironically had a position with the company I worked with before I left but it was a temporary position. Now I hope that gives you a better idea.... :help: !!!

Thanks!!

Letter from employer is optional.

In our case this what the I-134 included.

  • I-134 signed and notarized.
  • Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years, (Redundant for the (1040,W2,1099) but are free from the IRS
  • Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for past 3 years
  • Letter from my employer stating annual salary, job responsibility, and that is full time, on company letterhead.
  • Photo copies of past 6 months pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

More embassy's than not DO require the letter form the employer. Even if its a temp job try to have something in there from them in regards to how much you make and how long you've been with them. In terms of your overall success, they really key in on your 06 AGI from your tax return and proof that you are basically making the same now (i.e. paystubs). If you have both of these, then you should do fine.

I don't know that the bolded part of your post can be stated categorically.

And Dan's post about what his letter contained misses a key element.

A employment letter need not state that you are full or part time - it should state whether or not the employment is permanent, the rate of pay, and the method (hourly, salary, or whatever). If it is not permanent (contracted for a stated period of time) it should say so.

I doubt that temporary employment is going to cut the mustard for an affidavit of support if a letter is typically required at your consulate. It's always wise to research the anecdotal experience of those who have interviewed recently.
