We have received the above petition from the NVC on 25 July 2007 and a packet -3 was sent to Tripti on 26 July 2007. She is required to submit the DS-230 Part-1 and applicant’s statement back to the immigrant visa section as early as possible either by mail or in person at counter number one between 4 to 5 p.m.

We hope this information is useful to you. However, please contact us in case of any clarification.

Subject: RE: NWD2007697015

Dear Consular Official,

I have again confirmed from the NVC that the petition has been forwarded to the US Embassy/Consulate General in New Delhi on July 19, 2007 for further processing.

I have received this confirmation by first class US postal mail, and I am attaching a scan of the physical letter I received from the NVC.

The case number is NWD2007######, and here are the details:

Petitioner: PARAG, US Citizen, Born ##/##/####

Beneficiary: TRIPTI, Indian Citizen, Born ##/##/####

INS Receipt # : EAC07########

Case # NWD2007######

I wanted to confirm that your post has indeed received both our electronic and physical file.

Assuming everything has been received, would it be ok for my fiancée to send Forms DS-156 and DS-230, part I, photocopies of her passport, two photographs, and a signed checklist from the website to the Delhi Embassy?

Thanks again in advance!

Parag

HI Parag,

So they are not asking for DS-156? I also found a DS-156K form on the dept of state website. So confusing. What statement are they talking about? Is that the one where you check off that you have all the supporting documents? Also, when they say in person, does the beneficiary have to go or can a family member submit on her behalf?

Not sure why they didn't ask for it, but I will make sure my fiancee goes there with it.

The VJ Guides and the Delhi Embassy Website have a great deal of info on what is required for Packet 3. Once I get packet 3 in my hands, then I can advise if the inctructions are different then the website and guides.

Ok, my fiancee just got back from visiting the Delhi Embassy. Even though we have not received Packet 3 yet, she successfully dropped off the passport size photos, DS-156, DS-230, and applicant statements.

I made my own Applicant's Statement for her from the information on the Delhi Website, and I also printed out the Mumbai Embassy Packet 3 and had her go in with both; and the Embassy took both.

The embassy did not want the photocopies of her passport which we had brought. They did ask for form DS-156K which she didn't bring with her thanks to my stupid advice (I thought it was only needed for the interview.)

So... I have to send her back next week with DS-156K.

They said that it will take about a month for them process the paperwork, and two months thereafter she should have an interview date. So... if things go well, we should have a November interview. I'm not certain how accurate that information is; from other VJ timelines I have seen interview dates much sooner then 3 months after dropping off Packet 3.

Quick update.

My fiancee went to the Embassy to drop off DS-156K, DS-230 Pt1 (she thought she might have forgotten to sign the one from last Friday) and DS-230 Pt2 (normally not required for K-1 visa, but we had it filled out just in case.)

They accepted the forms, and she also asked if she needed Packet 3, as she hasn't recieved it yet. They said no, not anymore, and handed her packet 4, and told her the interview date is for September 12.

I will have my husband submit the packet 3 on his own...so we could save some time. i don't really trust the indian postal service... so i rather not rely on that.
