Hi everyone im new to these forums. I am going through the whole waiting for the green card thing as well. I came here on a k1, my daughter on a k2. I had my aos interview (which my 16 yrold daughter was not supposed to come to????) it was at the newark center. The woman asked us a whole bunch of questions , even wanted to see a picture of our four year old daughter we have together. I have been with my husband for 6 years , we have a 4 yr old daughter together and I have a 16 year old from a previous marriage. The woman really was mean and she acted like we were trying to decieve ber. After the interview was over :help: she said that she can not approve my case because I have not done my bio Oh great I thought here we go. So she gave me a form and sent me down to the office to get it done. Well its been since Feb 28th (interview date) and no word BUT they did send my another letter to go for my bio like as if the first one didnt even exist. Im so fed up with all of this. I am on anti anxiety pills, ended up in hospital with a nervous breakdown 2 weeks ago. This is painfull. Also my 16 year old has heard NOTHING no finger prints no interview no nothing. whats up with that. Sorry for the rant. ggggrrrrrr

Try not to worry about the biometrics -- that's pretty straightforward. I know it's hard, and boy, does it sound stressful. But think of it this way, for biometrics, you know what is involved. A short appointment with fingerprinting, your picture taken, and a basic form or two. :) This is not the worst that could happen, and it's much better than having to get the medical all over!

Personally I'd suggest doing what USCIS asks for -- there could be errors with the first biometrics -- and just try to keep calm about it. Again, you already know what you're doing so there are no worries about unexpected things popping up I bet!

Unfortunately, chances are that the officer is trained to treat people gruffly, to weed out the 'false' relationships. Doubtless yours is totally normal and bona fide, but she can't know that and her job isn't a pleasant one. I'm sorry you got on the wrong side of it.

As for your 16-year-old's situation, I suggest you ask Rayma about the situation. She went through a similar issue with her daughter (I believe there were delays in her case).

Rayma here!!!!!

My daughter's case was very different, actually. My daughter came to the U.S. on her K-2 Visa almost one year after I came on my K-1 Visa. I already had my GC when my daughter got here, so I applied for her AOS separately from mine. She got a letter to go to the Biometrics appointment and then she got another letter for her AOS interview.

If I were you, I would go to the Biometrics appointment and ask someone at the local office what you should do regarding your daughter's application.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear your going thru this.

I am wondering too why your 16 year old daughter wasnt scheduled for her AOS at the same time as yours.

My husband and my interview is set for 8 am, and my 17 year old son's is for 8:30 the same day.

Did you send in the two AOS together, or where they sent in weeks apart.

I always thought the K-1/K-2 had their interviews the same day, unless they were joining to follow like Rayma's daughter.

Hope you get things sorted. (F)

Thank you Rayma, My daughter came in the country with me and ive never heard anything about her from immigration yet. I thought when I had my aos interview she was supposed to come with me untill the interviewer looked at her like who are you. then told her to wait in the waiting room. I felt so bad for her. Maybe they are waiting till im approved before they start on her? I have filled and payed for all her applications at the same timeas mine.

shoot. The AOS is a painful as the K-1 wait? I don't think I can handle that.

I actually thought the AOS wait, in hindsight, was MORE painful. It was very very hard on my husband, and therefore hard on me :P

Good luck getting it all straightened out, mommygirl.

Pauline, get yourself an INFOPASS appointment and go ask them what is going on.

My daughter came with me, I was on a K-1 and she on a K-2. We had major problems waiting for her FBI name clearance - it took nearly a year according to the USCIS, the FBI actualy sent it within a few days! Anyway, I have since been told that K-2 files stay with the K-1 file, since they derive benefit from the K-1. Your daughter's interview should have been the same day as yours. Only if the child "follows to join" at a later date is their interview later.

If you have received nothing on your daughter's case - don't let it just sit there. There can be major problems for K-2's if they reach certain ages, and in some cases it is the "luck of the draw" if you get through without problems. There is a case at the moment of an 18 year old being refused AOS because the USCIS are not interpreting the rules correctly. Don't leave it - get onto them and find out what they are doing on your daughter's file.

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

Aww, hon. Sorry to hear about all of this, I know it's stressful.

I'm on anti-anxiety pills, too. Basically because of AOS. Our interview is in 7 days exactly at 11:00 (right now!) and I am pretty scared.

We'll get through it, though. We all will.

Good luck, okay. And take care, try for less stress and I will, too. :)
