Priority date June 8th 2022

May 30th 2023 NVC received our approved our immigrant visa petition from USCIS.

On July 17th 2023 we requested to add a joint sponsor.

On August 21st & August 30th we were asked to submit our sponsors W2 forms.

On August 30th we received a message saying "All required applicant documents have been received."

Since then... NOTHING! It has been 2 months with no communication.

I emailed NVC and they responded what you would see below...

This case is documentarily complete, which means the NVC has all the documents we requested. Your application is waiting for an interview appointment, where a consular officer will adjudicate it.

The U.S. Embassy or Consulate provides the National Visa Center (NVC) with a list of available appointment dates and times.  We will schedule your case for an interview appointment when an appointment date is available.  We schedule appointments on a first in, first out basis.  After we schedule your appointment, we will forward your case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in ANKARA

Although NVC strives to schedule appointments within three months of NVC’s acceptance of all requested documentation, this timeframe is subject to the operating status and capacity of the consular section.  Currently, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, most consular posts are operating at a limited capacity as they work through a backlog of immigrant visa applications and scheduling may take significantly longer.

We cannot predict how long it will take to schedule your appointment, but we will notify the applicant, the petitioner, and your attorney (if applicable) when an appointment is scheduled.  Your case will stay at NVC until that time.

I am a US citizien living in the US and my wife is from Iran living in Turkey. The interview will be in Ankara Turkey.

Are we suppose to count from the date NVC received our case from USCIS on May 30th 2023 or the day where they say "All required documents have been received" on August 30th. One was 5months ago and the other one was 2 months ago... and we are waiting...

What do you think about our timing?

Thank you all!

You start timing from the date you were documentary qualified.  I am not sure if Ankara is backed up or not, but I am not sure there is much you can do unless you have a basis to request an expedite.

check the portal and some timelines for Ankara to get an idea how long others have waited

https://tr.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/#:~:text=Current Operations%3A,all types of visa categories.

Current Operations:

U.S. Embassy Ankara is processing all categories of immigrant and fiancé(e) (K1 and K2) visas.  As a result of the suspension of routine visa services associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a backlog in all types of visa categories.

Perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Usual time from DQ date to interview date for Ankara seems to be about 5 months, but I believe Turkish citizens are given priority from what I've read on VJ, so your wife may have a longer wait. This thread may be useful -

Turkey is backed up due to the other Countries it handles and with Iran you can expect a longer AP.

It’s the applicants nationality I meant, (obviously all petitioners are American - or green card holders - or they wouldn’t be able to sponsor!). If your spouse isn’t Turkish then she may have a longer wait from what I’ve read on VJ. But that thread will give you more info.

Good luck.
