Future dates do not screw stats, they are ignored.

Timeline

I'd like to suggest that one does away with the distinction between the IR1/CR1 and the K3 timelines. In many cases (ours being one of them), even though one has a concurrent K3 application pending, one does not yet know which way one wants to go depending on how fast the petitions are approved. I would find it very useful to have all the information for both possibilities displayed on one page, perhaps in separate columns. The way it is structured now, I -- as the user -- have to make a decision whether I want my information displayed as IR1/CR1 or as K3 even though I may still keep my options open for the respective other visa. This means that all the potentially useful timeline information for the other option is lost to the other users. The same is true for the corresponding timeline tables.

In general, the latter could be made much more useful by rearranging the columns in a more logical order, suppressing some information by default (to be expanded if necessary), and actually making the default length of the displayed tables much, much longer (scrolling up/down is much quicker than going to different pages). As they are now, I find these tables quite uninformative not because the information is not there, but because it is very difficult to extract it in any casual manner. The timeline lists that are kept in some of the threads are much. much better in that respect.

My wife's USCIS journey:

I-130 (IR1) Timeline

03-26-07 -- I-130 sent to VSC

09-20-07 -- Permanent Resident

N-400 Timeline

09-20-10 -- N-400 sent to Dallas lockbox

09-24-10 -- Check cashed

09-27-10 -- NOA received

10-07-10 -- Biometrics letter rec'd (appointment for 10/19/2010)

10-15-10 -- Biometrics done (walk-in at Alexandria, VA facility)

10-23-10 -- Another Biometrics letter rec'd (1st fingerprint set unusable according to FBI; appointment for 11/19/2010)

10-25-10 -- 2nd Biometrics done (walk-in at Alexandria, VA facility)

10-26-10 -- Called FBI: Second fingerprint set okay

11-20-10 -- Yellow letter received

01-26-11 -- Interview letter received

03-01-11 -- Interview (Civics test passed, but "Decision cannot yet be made" -- Docs missing)

03-25-11 -- Oath letter received

04-18-11 -- Oath Ceremony -- USC

Timeline

I have run out of space on my signature timeline and so made a link to my personal website (see below) I also maintain my system timeline.....

I think these personal timelines that people put in their signatures make the posts far too big - but the 'bare bones' timelines that are part of the system don't allow for people to note problems encountered etc which are really helpful..

I suppose a blend of both would be great - so the timeline link on each post would skip off to a user entered timeline with lots of detail and the system timeline stages could be part of these personal pages - really i am saying the system timeline should have lots of user space between each system stage then people would not have to use signatures at all and the signature field could be cut right down......
