So my fiancee is currently going through her medical at St. Lukes and of course she talked to others applying for K-1 visa. One of the people she talked to had a certificate of non-marriage from their fiance and now my fiancee wants me to get one as well. As far as I know I don't need to get one and even if I did I wouldn't know where to get one from. I've read and skimmed through the I-129F and even the I-134 but I don't recall either one mentioning this document. Can anyone help clear this up for me? Thank you.

The current Packet 4 does not require the beneficiary to have a CENOMAR. I'm glad that you created this thread because I have to update the most current Packet 4 and add it to the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide.

Cheers!!!

Glad some use came out if this topic. Thank you both for the response. I didn't think it was required either but of course I'd rather be safe than sorry. :)

hi tundraknight, if you have received your packet 4 you will find that it is one of the requirements, there is a small paper stapled in their that says:

Effective March 2006

All K1 applicants who have never contracted marriage should submit a 'CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE RECORD (CENOMAR) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and printed on NSO security paper. You may call the NSO Information Center at 02-737-1111 or visit the NSO webpage at https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Secure/frmIndex.asp to request issuance of a CENOMAR (Singleness).

goodluck!

the opinions that i express in this website are my own and are not legal advise...thank you...

Sorry, I guess I should've been more specific, my fiancee is the applicant. I don't think I'm supposed to get anything like a packet 4. :) She does have her CENOMAR though.

Guess it depends on your embassy. In Jamaica, we needed one. It was called a non-impediment form.

If you are getting married to a filipina in the Philippines the USC is required to get a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage. This is obtained at the US Embassy on Roxas Blvd. Since you are getting married in the US, this document is not necessary.

you can get it at NSO-where you get your authenticated birth cert. It is a required doc for I-129f application. It iswritten in the packet you received from the US embassy. You can get one if you want to in case the consul asks for it during your interview, but during my interview, the consul didn't ask for it.....
