Student Protesters Occupy Stanford President's Office, Get Arrested

Outside there was a larger group of protesters who vandalized some property and linked arms around the building, apparently to keep police out.  Notice the messages include "Kill Cops" (multiple times) and "Death to Israel."  [...]

Students Who Occupied Stanford President's Office Face Felony Charges

 

Wednesday morning a small group of Stanford students occupied the office of the president and issued a list of demands.  They barricaded themselves inside and refused to leave until those demands, related to Israel, were met.  But one of their demands was that the students involved in the occupation would be given amnesty for their actions, i.e. no punishment for the trespassing and vandalism.

 

Rather than negotiate with them, the administration called the police.  Police had to break through a door but then went inside and arrested all 13 students who were present.  The administration also announced that seniors in the group would not graduate and everyone who was a current student would be suspended.  But it turns out that was just the start.  The Stanford Daily reports those students have now been charged with felonies.  [...]

No one is above the law — unless you are a friend of the Left in New York.  While Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg digs up years-old misdemeanors and makes them into phantom felonies for his political opponents, he washes the slate clean for 31 of the 46 violent protestors arrested in the Columbia University riot.

 

The protestors were charged with trespassing and burglary after they stormed Columbia University and barricaded themselves within the college.  Even though they were found (and filmed) inside the building and removed by police from the building where they trespassed, Bragg dropped the charges due to "lack of evidence."  [...]

I think anyone using violence to further political goals should be held responsible, including these protesters.

Completely agree.  Whether Right or Left, if one breaks the law, destroys property, or affects someone else's rights based on political protesting or action, they deserve to be prosecuted.  We are allowed to protest, but that doesn't mean we can break the law to do it.  The question is why does one side seem to get much more of a pass than the other.  I am fine with the J6 protesters that broke the law, but what about the mainstream left/Democrats (antifa et. al.) in Portland who were attacking federal property and federal law enforcement?  I know Merrick Garland said it was different as those protesters did it at night.
