1. We filed a form on May 1st with all the information attatched as requested. I am wondering how the financial situation works for this visa. Is there a minimum amount of cash we need for it, or will the house i am moving to be assessed on income? Is there a financial requirement at all for this visa set in stone or is that more for the permanent status adjustment?

2. How accurate are the timelines on this and the uscis site? The uscis site would indicate they are way behind, but on here it would indicate that just over 6 months is pretty normal from notice date to receiving the visa.

3. Could my fiances father be a sponsor for my I-485 visa if we are living at their house?

Thanks

Here is the poverty guideline link: http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/07poverty.shtml

The timelines here on VJ are what other members have experienced so you might be able to get a feel of what to expect.

You future father-in-law can sponsor you but will need to meet hte proverty guidelines and you both will count for the size of the household.

Good luck

there we go timeline added! that opens up another question:

As you do not need a affadavit of support for the K1, will the financial requirement all be assessed at the interview, and wil the following be ok for my application to be accepted:

a) my bank statements showing around $14,000

B) My mothers bank statements showing $90,000 with a covering letter verified by a solicitor saying i have access to the money at any time

c) my future father in laws tax return (living at the house i will be officially residing in) with a covering verified letter saying i will be supported in full by him should the need arise.

Thanks to anyone that answers this, we are hoping to get everything in order for the interview as we are cutting it very close to the wedding date to recieve the visa (if everything goes to plan !!!)

thanks for that!

so when does the documents get sent out that need to be filled in and returned? our notice date is 1st may, but we never received it in the post, apparently there was some kind of delay! is this likely to delay our case or iss the fact we haven't received it irrelevant!

Many thanks to you all again!

The guides at the top of the page will answer most of your questions about the forms. This is a link to a flowchart showing you the steps of the Ki1 Visa http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

This is a link to the details and links to some sample forms http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

This is a link to package 3 which will be sent to the beneficiary from the US embassy in their home country http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=lastupby&uid=30186 ://http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/...&uid=30186 ://http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/...&uid=30186 .

Since your partner is in the UK it would probably be a good time to request the police certificate. In the UK this will take around 40 days to get after it has been received and it will be valid for 1 year.
