AM I an idiot? Do you get an NOA after the receipt?

So now im wondering if i will get an NOA after the reciept from our AOS papers...and once we get the NOA then we can check online? im just freaked out that our Receipt number wont work on the USCIS website.

tatedaoudi, I am in the same boat as you, I sent off my AOS on the 24th March and the 13 digit number from the cheque does not work. I have not received NOA yet.

For AOS, the 13 digit number on the back of the check can be different to the one on the Notice itself. Also the system/database that generates the reciept number and holds your information is different ot the one the online case status website pulls from. I don't know if they have to input it into both systems separately or if you just have to wait for them to be synchronised. Either way it can take a few days or even weeks for you too see anything online for AOS.

Take a moment and take a deep breath. It'll be all right, don't worry.

When you receive your NOA (which will basically confirm that applications are taking X to Y number of days to process, etc.), there will be a receipt number on it that runs something like "MSCXXXXXXXXXXXX". That's what you input into the Case Status system on USCIS.gov.

It can take a few days for these to show up once the notice is issued.
