SSN and GC after entering the US?

Hello,

My mother entered the US yesterday and I was wondering what I should do to get her SSN and the physical GC.

Category is IR5

In the ds 260's social security number information, I entered:

Have you ever applied for a Social Security number? NO

Do you want the Social Security Administration to issue a Social
Security number and a card?
YES

Do you authorize disclosure of information from this form to the
Department of Homeland Security, the Social Security Administration,
and such other U.S. Government agencies as may be required for the
purposes of assigning you a social security number (SSN) and issuing
you a Social Security card and do you authorize the Social Security
Administration to share your SSN with the Department of Homeland
Security?

YES

From my understanding, after she enters US, it automatically triggers the creation of SSN card and it should come to my mail correct?

Also, I paid the $220 uscis fee for processing her GC before she came to USA. Is it the same case as SSN?

Also, is there any way I can track these?

Thanks

Sounds like the GC and the SSC should be heading her way based on how you answered the questions and paid the processing fee.  The issue is the time period it will take to arrive.  She can go down to the SSA and apply for a SSN, my cousins did this when they came on DVs back in 2019, or she can simply wait for the SSN.  Nothing you can do right now relative to the physical GC except wait and if it doesn't arrive in 10-11 months, she can request an ADIT stamp to maintain her LPR proof.  Based on what I have noticed (purely anecdotal), the physical GCs seem to be arriving faster for those immigrating on IVs.

Good Luck!

Both should just be mailed, her SSN in a couple of weeks and the GC in 1-3 months usually. You can’t track the SSN but can track the GC using the receipt number from when you paid the $220 fee.

Can you share the website to track the GC?

Also, does anyone know if someone needs to sign receipt for SSN and GC mail, or does USPS drop it in the mailbox?

It’s the same CEAC tracking site you’ve used the whole way through, only the receipt number changes. https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

And they just leave both in the mailbox, no signatures required.

Go here and enter the required data. The system tells you if you have paid already or, if not, it let you do the payment:
