hello

I recently received my EAD card, I read all the documents they sent me but I am a little confused.
Can I work with EAD card directly?

Don't I need something else to verify my status? For example.

I already have my EAD card, in two weeks I will receive my social security number, with that it is sufficient proof that I can work and how do I prove that my documents are in process?
I usually carry with me copies of the letters that USCIS sends me about my cases, my passport and my old social security number.

I also read that the employer must fill out Form I-9, there he is aware of my legal process and my status?
I looked for information on the USCIS website but I'm still not very clear.

The back of the card says "this card is not evidence of U.S. citizenship or permanent residence"
I understand that there but what can I use to prove that I can be in the USA while my papers are in process? the EAD card? USCIS letters?

Other than that, after getting my EAD, what's next?

If you need anything else so that you can help me, I will gladly let you know.
Thank you.😊

The NOA from your AOS submission is proof you are in a period of "Authorized Stay".  As to working, you should be fine with your EAD card and SSN.

Good Luck!

I already have a social security number, do I have to wait two weeks for them to notify me of the SSN or can I work with the one I already have?
The one I have was taken out as a J-1 and the SSN says "valid for work only with DHS authorization" 🤔

thanksss!!

Your SSN doesn't change, your DHS authorization is the EAD card. You can start working as soon as you get hired.

When you get your Green Card, go to SSA and remove the wording "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" by asking for the a new SS card. SSN won't change (it never changes), but you won't have these restrictions.

Until then, EAD and current SS card is good proof of your ability to work legally.

You only get one SSN for life, so the you got as a J-1 is it.  Your EAD is currently your DHS authorization.  When you get your green card, that will be your authorization.

Or remove the wording from Social Security card after receiving Green Card. That will allow to show only Drivers License and Social Security Card. Far easier than dealing with Green Cards, extension letters and incompetent HRs.
